In January, I purchased and had Best Buy install an Avital Remote Start on my Nissan Pathfinder. The remote start worked fine until about six weeks ago. It no longer will unlock my doors UNLESS I have already started the car with the remote start. When I exit my vehicle, the doors will only lock, with the remote, about half the time. Basically, the keyless entry function is pretty pointless right now. I'm really frustrated...the installer, after my install, did not really go over much with the system and definitely didn't cover how to address any issues (like resetting the system). Any suggestions or ideas? I am hoping to avoid having to take my car back in because it's such a hassle dealing with Best Buy.

shouldn't be a hastle for you to get that looked at, just schedule the appoinment for a time that works for you to get that looked at. this is why we have a warranty. they will be able to tell you if it is the remote or if it is the remote start causing the issue. when you go back there make sure you schedule enough time for yourself to ask any questions that you might have for the installer, and make sure he gives you a demo of how it is supposed to work. if you have any questions that is the time to do it with the installer right there. sorry, but the best approach is to go back to the shop and get a troubleshoot, sorry, good luck!

I ended up taking the remote start in and had it looked at. A part was replaced. The remote start worked as it should for about a week. I called the Best Buy where I had it installed and repaired. When I asked to speak with install, I was transferred to cell phones, I was then transferred to home theatre, and then I was transferred to a 1800 number. I was so frustrated, I hung up. Two days later, when I called, I was told they are no longer doing installation at that location (really, that changed in two days?!?) and was advised to call other locations. I finally found a location but, of course, since it was Monday, no was could speak to me. I left my number and was promised a return call, which I never recieved. I spoke with the store manager on Monday. He actually LAUGHED at me when I explained my problem.
I'm out a couple hundred dollars for a remote start that doesn't work and cannot seem to get anyone to look at it. The initial person who did the repair had to go online to come up with a possible solution! I don't think anyone knows what the issue is. I chose Best Buy over a couple of local installers because of price and because I knew I would be moving across the country over the summer. I completely regret my decision.
