97 honda accord speaker help

I'm looking to put in new speakers into my 97 accord. i know the front two door speakers are 6 1/2" and the back speakers are 6 by 9. ive done a little research, but im still not sure what to get. i want a better bass sound, more crisp but still a powerful bass that you can feel, but i dont want to spend a  ton of money on subs and a big amp. i was just looking at some decent component speakers. i was thinking about just changing the back speakers to save money, but im not sure if that would throw the sound off balance. so, if anyone could offer me some advice, on what kind of speakers to get, im not looking for some over the top high quality sound system, just one thats a little louder. thanks

Re: 97 honda accord speaker help

Please note that everyone hears sound differently so YMMV.  I generally find that the Polks and the Alpines that we carry tend to be a little better in the bass response and the Pioneers and Kenwoods tend to perform a little better in the high end response so if you are looking for more low end I would look at Polk or Alpine.  The best idea is to go into your local store and listen to the displays (I would recomend you bring your own CD or Ipod or whatever you usually listen to...just keep it PG :smileyhappy:)to see which ones you like.  In my own setup, I would use some Pioneer TS-A series up front for the crispness of their highs and probably a set of Polks in the rear for their bass response (since highs are directional and are often lost coming from the rear deck) if I wasn't planning on adding a sub.  The output of your radio is also an important consideration in the overall sound quality/volume of your system as well.  If you have a stock radio then it might be a good time to upgrade to a radio with higher power output in order to power the new speakers more efficiently.  Consulting with your local Autotech is also a good idea since it is something that we deal with every day and they can listen to your car and give recommendations on where to start to get the most bang for your buck.
