store credit

Finally Best Buy agreed to replace a computer under their "lemon" rule.  I was given store credit.  I don't need another computer.  In fact I don't need ANYTHING that Best Buy sales.  Is there anyway I can give the "store credit" card back and get cash instead?

I'm not a happy camper when it comes to Best Buy and can't see making any major purchases there any time soon.  I really need the $500.00 plus back in the bank, not sitting in my wallett waiting to be spent on stuff I don't need.  Can you help?

Re: store credit

You MAY be able to sell the card... That's what I'd try... If you know someone who shops at BB, sell it for about 5% less than value. There are also sites that will buy gift cards for close to face value (~90%), but I'm not familiar with them and can't recommend one.

Hello whaleyf,

I'm sorry that you're not happy with the No Lemon Policy and the gift card that was issued to you.  Unfortunately, we won't be able to cash out the gift card.

I apologize for any inconvenience that's occurred during this situation.

Re: store credit

That's okay. It worked out. Not that I was unhappy, just wish I had known ahead of time they were going to do that. I was told I would be given a computer, no choice in the matter. But again, it worked out.

Uhh if your computer was junked out under the No Lemon policy, which only applies with products covered under the Geek Squad Black Tie Protection, then you do have the choice to receive the value of a comparable computer onto a gift card/store credit card. If the store recommends a comparable computer to you and you are not happy with it, you can get its value instead and purchase whatever you want with it. Best Buy recently junked out my old Macbook Pro (uneconomical to repair) but I already had a second one so I used the store credit towards a Dyson vacuum and a DSLR camera.

I DO NOT work for Best Buy. Whatever I post are just educated guesses or common sense.
