"REFRESHED" Ipod Touch-what a joke

I purchased a 2nd generation Ipod touch about a year and half ago and bought the "protection plan". I was told at the time when I bought it that if anything ever happened to it that they would give you store credit towards another one, that was a lie. The problem I was having with my original one was when listening to music in my truck the ipod would shut off on its own and go to the home screen. Upon returning it to Best Buy they say they do a rapid exhange and they don't issue you store credit-thanks for lieing to me Best Buy when I bought it. Anyways I am on my 2nd "refreshed" relacement Ipod and about to take this one back again because it is a bigger piece of sh@t than my original one and the first refreshed one. Had I known this bullsh@t I would of kept my first one that did not have near the issues that these "refreshed" ipods have. When do they finally give up and give you store credit?

If you have 3 rapid exchanges and are in need of a fourth, they will replace it with a new one in store. Keep in mind that have the have verifiable problems to be rapid exchanged again that aren't cosmetic.

Re: "REFRESHED" Ipod Touch-what a joke

The 1st "refreshed" one would not stay connected to the internet and the battery would be fully charged and end up dead in less than an hour. The 2nd one now, the home button is failing, it was fine when I first got it a week ago but now it only works once in awhile and the battery sucks on this one. My original ipod at a 1 1/2 years old, the battery would last at least 2-3 hours of playing games and surfing the web without a recharge.

What really irritates me is that they need to either train the staff right on the replacement plan details or stop lieing to customers that they will get new units when in reality they will not. Had I known that I was going to have to go back there once a week to try and fix my ipod and get "refreshed" ones to replace it, I would of never bought that stupid waste of money protection plan.

Very dissapointed with Best Buy right now. My wife just bought an Ipad 2 from Best Buy  with the accidental protection plan. I am sure that is going to end up being a big waste of money also if something ever happens to it. I was probably lied to when they told me that basically anything will be covered on that plan. Had I known all this bs was going to happen, we would of shopped else where for the Ipad 2.

Re: "REFRESHED" Ipod Touch-what a joke

Now the home button does not work at all on my 2nd "refreshed" ipod touch. What a frickin joke. Now I need to go back to Best Buy again for the 5th time to get my 3rd "refreshed" ipod touch that will be even a bigger POS than the rest of them.

Re: "REFRESHED" Ipod Touch-what a joke

germe25,

Thank you for posting your concerns regarding our rapid exchange program for the iPod Touch you purchased from us. It's through feedback such as what you've shared with us that we are able to make sure we provide accurate and valuable assistance when you purchase a service plan with us. I'm saddened to read that you will already be on your 3rd replacment iPod as I write this.

I'm sorry to hear that you weren't fully informed on the process involved when you originally made your purchase. We do provide documentation fully stating how your plan will be implimented in order to lessen miscommunication regarding how our plans will be fulfilled. Our documentation should have been presented at the time of purchase, but is also available online or just in passing at your local store and does state that products may be refurbished as quoted below:

"Replacement parts or products may be new or rebuilt to meet the manufacturer’s specifications of the original product at our discretion. Our obligations under this Plan will be fulfilled in their entirety if we replace your product with a new or refurbished product or issue you a voucher or gift card for replacement value of your product pursuant to these terms and conditions."

Please note that if this third replacement does not work, and a 4th replacement is verified as needed, you will be meeting the No Lemon policy for your plan as stated in Section G of the document I linked above. Your store can then process a request for replacement of your iPod Touch. It's my hope that we're able to provide you the perfect replacement this third time but rest assured that we do not want you to be left hanging indefinitely. That's why we value the No Lemon policy as much as you do!

Please let us know if you still need any help or advice. I hope we are able to resolve this for you fully in our store, but know that our Community is here when you need it.

Re: "REFRESHED" Ipod Touch-what a joke

it's okay. it could be ME on my.. what ?  eighth iPod touch ?  >_>

the first one that i got was two years ago and  it was 8gb and by the time i'd gotten home from Pennsylvania (3 days) the home button stopped working and it would pause the song for no apparent reason.  we had it replaced and i upgraded to a 32gb touch.  it broke a couple of months later the same way.  i'm pretty sure it was a 2nd gen. and the 3rd gen. had just come out.  They replaced my iPod with a new one then and it recently started acting up with the internet and when i would sync it with iTunes, it would just close out mid-sync.  weird, huh ?  since it'd probably take 4 hours to replace everything on my iPod with the backup, i did NOT want to get it replaced with another POS touch, and my case didn't fit the new iPods.  i just wanted Best Buy to see if they could fix it.  they took it and shipped it off somewhere and now i've got this "Refreshed iPod touch with the SAME PROBLEM as the one i JUST shipped off.

Not to mention, i take AMAZING care of my iPods.  they looked brand spankin' new when i handed it over to the Best Buy worker and there wasn't a scratch, dent, or smudge on it.  i actually REFUSED to touch the screen without the protector on.  this aggravated me quite badly.
