im sure im gonna find out in a few days but i figured id ask on here so i could try to get a head start. i recently called geek squad to come check out my 2008 sony bravia 42" lcd to and he said that he would order a new panel for it. i got a call a few days later saying that they could replace it and would give me a comparable tv. well i aint really worried about getting the tv cause i planned on upgradeing it ( the person at best buy said i could just pay the difference) well i guess what i really wanna know is how much my tv or its replacement could be worth so i know how much money to get together. i know it dont matter but at the time i bought it, the tv was worth about $1200 and on sale for $999.99. just trying to get all my ducks in a row before i go to the store. thanks for any help

This one is the only one that has the same specs as yours plus the same number of hdmi ports so seems most comparable. There isn't a huge range of 42 inch lcd's, especially 60 hz ones.
Here are the other options that the store could pick as well,

well went up there today and the only comparable tv they had was a lg 42" at the $569.99 (on sale from $699.99). so i asked him what price it went on for if i wanted to upgrade. and he said the sale price. then i asked about if i wanted till the sale end if i would get the $699.99 price and he kinda danced around it and said well wed have to go online to get an average. im just trying to get a decent price to where im not paying like $500 to upgrade.
