they will be able to look up your receipt with your telephone number. it is not the "replacement Plan" you got because best buy do not offer that for laptops.
they offer service plans. what service plan is that they will attempt to service your computers before replacing you with a computer. the only reason where they will give you a free computer is if your computer requires up to the 4th qualified repair.
i work in a best buy in the computer department, and i see it a lot where we just give out free computers because of their protection service plan.
so the one you got is called the Protection Service Plan. depends on how serverely it is broken. it is only covered if it was accidental damage. if they some how see it it's intentional breakage then it won't covered (like if u dropped the computer from 3 stories, run it over with a car, submerged the laptop in water, etc etc)
couple months ago i had this lady brought the paper work to me to get a free laptop, she was only 2 days away before her protection service plan expired. we give her a free laptop and she was able to walk away with a working computer, and yes she did pay another $300 to get the protection service plan again with it. (that you will have to pay again)
