Aloha,
Last desperate acts often involve message board postings so here is mine
I purchased a 360 on 5/03/06 and bought the 2 year Product Replacement Plan...I have the original receipt
I had the XBox replaced about 4 or 5 times on that original 2 year plan
Following reasons: Broken controller after about 2 weeks (replaced everything over a bad controller and this was when you had to drive around to find one so I thought that was a bit odd), Bad power supply a few weeks later and at least twice for freezing up and crashing...I have the exchange receipts etc...
On 4/27/08 I brought the 360 in for another exchange and while there i was asked if I wanted to extend the warranty on the replacement they were giving me
I payed the 59.99 and went on my way as the 2 year replacement plan was WELL worth it the first 2 years
Miraculously this 360 lasted almost 2 years, almost
About 2 months ago it started the old freezing and glitching out and it finally died on Saturday 4/24 with a red ring and now it turns on but does nothing....though no more red ring
I went to a BB with all my receipts today, 4/28/2010
The 2 Year Replacement Plan warranty ran out on 4/27/2010, due to the replacement on 4/27/2008
I asked if anything could be done and the associate told me to call the 888-bestbuy number
I stood off to the side and and called, after explaining that i was a day late I was told "sorry, should have come in yesterday"
Two things upset me about this experience:
1 I purchased a 2 year replacement plan plan on 5/3/2006
I purchased another under the assumption that I was extending my coverage for another two years
I feel that my XBox should have been covered out until 5/3/2010...2 plans and 4 years from the original plan purchase date
The last replacement receipt and the one the store went off of lists the original transaction as 5/17/06 Why do they have an incorrect date for the original purchase date?...I have the original receipt from 5/3/06 so I am leary of their back office record keeping
2 The 3 associates who were pointing and giggling when I was explaining my position to the 888 operator that the plan coverage on my XBox should be for 4 years and not 3 years 49 weeks I told the phone operator and she graciously apologized but it was something that really upset me and soured my taste for BestBuy
Where is my pro-rated discount for the 3 weeks I had taken from me when I was duped into thinking I was extending coverage and not cancelling the original plan and replaceing it with another?
I was all for purchasing another 2 year extension for the XBox. I have been an advertisment for how great BestBuy's replacement plan has been for me when friends would mention that their game system died and they had to pay for a new one.
I assume nothing will come of this but I do feel better saying it on their forum
If someone from BestBuy wishes to contact me please do through the email registered to this account name

On 4-27-08, the employee should never have said "extend your warranty". The replacement you were doing at that point was fulfilling the warranty, so to continue coverage, you had to purchase a new plan. The new plan is in effect two years from that date.

Hello snobtaper,
I’m not sure why there would have been any confusion regarding your service plan coverage, but I can imagine how frustrated you must feel. Like Nokia mentioned, anytime a product is replaced beyond its original factory warranty period any applicable service plan coverage is considered fulfilled. Customers then have the option of purchasing a new plan for the replacement product. I apologize though if this was not explained when you exchanged your Xbox 360.
As far as renewal is concerned, it’s important to understand that Product Replacement Plans are not eligible for renewal. Additional information on this policy can be found in the terms and conditions of your original service plan brochure or through the link I’ve provided below.
