What is BB's definition of "comparable"???

We are long standing BB customers; we have probably spent $10,000 at BB over the years, and currently have 5 TVs in our house, all from BB, and all either have or had the Black Tie warranty.  We've never had any problems with service; a repair person came out in a few days and took care of things, no problem.  I guess the people on this forum are the exceptions.

We have one concern, however.  We have a 47" LCD tv that just died. The tech is coming out today.  If it costs too much to fix, BB will replace it with a "comparable" TV.  In another thread on this forum, the BB rep said that the purchase price of the TV is NOT used to determine "comparable."  This was in response to a Black Tie customer who posted a  message about his $1800 TV being replaced by a "comparable" set that retailed for $800.  I can undertstand that; I would hate to imagine one of our top of the line Samsungs being replaced by some cheap, off-brand piece of junk.

That being said, it would be greatly appreciated if BB could tell us what criteria they use to determine if a replacement TV is "comparable."  Is it just picture size?  Refresh (60hz vs. 120hz)?  Input options?  What is BB's working definition of "comparable"?

Thanks,

Ruark

The purchase price is not taken into consideration. The t.v. size, type of t.v., internet features if present, refresh rate, and resolution are generally taken into consideration. If you post yor model number and what you paid for it, I can give you a rough estimate.

Re: What is BB's definition of "comparable"???

I would say this one:

Model: 47LK520 | SKU: 2138282

Enjoy your favorite movies and more with this HDTV that features an XD Engine technology for clear, detailed images, and 8 picture modes for customized use. The 2.4 ms response time reduces blurring during fast-action scenes.

Sale: $799.99

Keep in mind your protection plan will be considered fulfilled so if you want a new one on the new tv you will need to purchase it.

Comparable is whatever works out best for them.  I had a wonder camera with the metal body and comparable to best buy was a cheap plastic Rebel.  They based it on the Megapixal count not what my need were.
