Re: What does comparable performance mean?

Best Buy will give you back what you paid, nothing more, nothing less, minus the price you paid for the protection plan. I honestly don't know why you would think you would get a fridge twice as expensive as ours was.

Re: What does comparable performance mean?

We are just repeating ourselves.

What matters is the price, not performance. There is no such a thing as comparable performance. You said it all. On the two sentences that you wrote, you mentioned the words "price" and "paid". There was never a mention to the concept of comparable performance.

Re: What does comparable performance mean?

No it wouldn't.

Basically comparable performance is there for the example I will give below.

In your instance if there was a fridge that gave comparable stats/performance that cost $1,100 then they could provide you with that comparable model. But in your instance there is no comparable model that is less than your purchase price ($1,300), so "at their discretion" they are choosing to give you a GC for the original amount.

Look at it this way. How much did you spend on the extended warranty? I would assume around $300. So I will use $300 from here on out and if you spent more you can substitute what you spent in place of $300.

You gambled/invested and spent an extra $300 on an extended warranty. Since you did gamble/invest with an extended warranty, after 3 years (think that is what you said for how long you had it) that $300 gamble/investment paid off to the tune of $1,300. A 4.3 times return on investment.

If you wouldn't have spent the extra $300 then you would have to spend $1,000 more than if you did not have the plan.

Granted if you invested and got 5% APR on the $300 then it would only be a $50 difference, but still that is how it is supposed to work. And ,although slightly confusing, no matter how you read it as long as logic is properly applied it all comes to this:

They will replace with comprable model or a GC not to exceed the original purchase price.

You can choose to see the wording the way you want, but however you cut up the sentences it logically comes to the same conclusion.

I am agreeing that they could word it MUCH better, but you are coming out WAY ahead in this venture.

Re: What does comparable performance mean?

This thread is just dancing in circles... With that said, I will guarantee you this outcome: You will receive the amount you originally paid for your fridge back onto a gift card/store credit. A Community Connector should be coming around to tell you the same thing but only in nicer terms.

As well as you will cool off, and continue to shop in Best Buy. You're friends will just take your story and pretend to empathize, and continue to shop where they will.

I spent my fair time, years ago in multiple retail chains, and I'd be hard pressed to say I didn't see a majority of the customers who yelled and screamed, threatened to sue, and swore never to shop at store X/Y/Z again!!! walk through those doors shortly there after.

Re: What does comparable performance mean?

Lol rell. I only worked at 2 and I have heard the same thing multiple times. I never try to say this to the people here as they are mad and venting. But if a person truly believes they can influence hundreds (and in some claims thousands) of people to not shop at a certain store then I think they should definitely open a shop up because they have one heck of a dedicated fan base

Jimmienomam, it wouldn't be a proper complaint thread on here if people didn't add something along the lines of "none of my family or thousands of friends/Facebook friends will EVER shop here again because they all do what I say" (something like that).  It's the same thing over and over and over and over on these threads.  I swear that there must be a website somewhere that has these complaint templates for people to use.

Re: What does comparable performance mean?

Hi rnhuch,

Not getting a comparable refrigerator as a replacement would be frustrating for anyone, and I am truly sorry if the terms of this plan are not clear enough.

As the other users have pointed out we would not replace an item covered by one of our service plans with any product that costs more than the customer paid us for the item being replaced.

If the comparable product does cost more than the customer paid we would issue them store credit in the amount that they paid; to then be used towards any replacement item they want.

I do see that in light of the terms of your service plan you have instead chosen to continue with the repair of the refrigerator, and I show that we should be repairing this unit today. I will check on your repair tomorrow, and follow up on this thread.

Thanks for posting,

Re: What does comparable performance mean?

Correct. I receive a phone call saying that the part came and I preferred this route. I like my fridge and I always preferred to keep it from the gecko.

Geek Squad told me last week that the part would take a while to come and that's why they said that I should swap my fridge with a new one. That's when the grief started. I should also mention that the problem that my part took such a long time to come was not BB fault, but the third party company responsible to repair. They simple didn't order the part until I called their attention.

The repairman called me about one hour ago and he should replace the part in one hour. Thanks for checking.

Btw, when will I receive the check related to the food spoilage? Also, the Geek Squad agent last week told my wife that they will send a check for $75 due to compensate for our troubles. Can you confirm that?

Once again, thanks for your post.

CAN SOMEONE HELP ME, PLEASE!!!

The repairman came today, replaced the part and the fridge still doesn't cool. The fridge is still broken.

I really don't know what else to say...
