When I am entitled of a new product due to the extended warranty, does the replacement product need to have comparable performance or comparable price to the one the customer paid?

It should be comparable performance to the original product. If you bought a 50 inch 3D TV, you should receive a 50 inch 3D TV, nothing less. If your computer was a 15 inch laptop with a 500 GB HD and 4GB of RAM, you should receive the same specs. Price doesn't come into effect unless there is nothing comparable to your product in the matter of specs.
Over time as technology progresses, the prices on what the current technology was when you purchased your product drops so the price of a replacement product may be less than what you paid.
But look at it in the way of what you are getting. If I bought a $1000 computer 3 years ago, the same specced computer may be around $500. Even though the computer I bought cost more, I would still be getting a computer that was similar to my original.
Hope this answered your question. If you want further clarification on anything else, don't hesitate to ask.

I bought a Samsung fridge almost three years ago as an open item for $1300. Despite the fact that it was an open item, the price was not that different from a brand new one. Maybe 10-15% discount.
The replacement for the fridge is now $2500 (it is on sale now for $2000) and the store manager, for my surprise, wanted me to pay the difference. It is the exact same fridge as mine. Same features, same color, same size, same internal measurements, same power consumption, same brand, same everything. The only difference is the model number. If I show both fridges to anyone, they would say it is the same fridge. However the model number is different and the "new" one costs way more from what I paid.
I asked the manager if the problem was that my fridge was an open item and he told me that it doesn't matter. They only can replace a product for another one with the same price or less from what I purchased.
Very frustrated. Very disappointed. I don't know what to do. I guess that the price of the fridges increased a lot recently. There is nothing comparable to the price that I paid. Nothing comes even close.

To tag onto what was already stated, the terms do also state that the replacement cannot exceed the price of the original product.

rellarillear is correct and I missed this in my explanation. The replacement product cannot exceed the cost paid of the original product otherwise you would be responsible for the difference in cost. Since there is no comparable replacement at the original price or below, they should put the original purchase price on a gift card and you can apply that toward a different fridge of your choice.

Therefore it is not really comparable performance, but comparable price.
BB doesn't care if the new fridge has the same performance of the old one, All BB cares is that the new fridge costs less than the old one.
I think this is quite misleading.

I wouldn't really call it "misleading" because all of the references to it in the Terms specifically state that it is comparable performance not to exceed the purchase price.
