Hello,
I have a Toshiba Satellite A665 that has a hard drive that is going bad ( 200+ BAD sectors) I downloaded Seagate's tool "Sea Tools" returned this info: "Component The product you identified was sold as a system component. Please contact your place of purchase for service. Seagate sells many drives to direct OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) customers. These products are usually configured for the OEMs only, as components for their systems. You must contact your place of purchase for any warranty support on these drives."
According to Seagate their drives are under warranty for 3-5 years. Since I cannot get a replacement through Seagate nor do I have a extended support plan with Best Buy. How can I get a replacement? I just need replacement drive, I can restore the drive myself. I can give any specifics like serial numbers and owner infomation in a private email. (also I am not sure I have the receipt for the purchase of the laptop.
Thank you for any information,
Troy

Hard drives that are purchased by themselves have the longer warranty. If the hard drive was installed in a computer by a Manufacturer like Toshiba, it only has a 1 year Manufacturer's warranty through Toshiba.
Since your computer is a year and a half old and I'm assuming that you didn't purchase a Black Tie Service Plan to provide coverage over a year, the replacement of your hard drive would be at your expense.
I know that this isn't what you wanted to hear, but I hope I at least answered your questions. If you have any other questions, feel free to post them here.

What I would suggest is to purchase a new hard drive, at least the size of your old one or more, install it, and restore it. The prices on hard drives aren't too bad at the moment, though I'm not exactly sure how the prices are and if they've gone back down since the Thailand flooding shortage a few months ago.
