Hi from Australia,
I bought 3 cameras in June 2008 whilst on holiday. Now one camera is faulty and needs to be replaced. The problem is that I I have lost the receipt. I can definitely see the transaction on my credit card
To obtain the receipt
A. I called up the 1800 number but customer service says they cant locate my record so cannot provide me a receipt.
b. I called the pasadena store where I bought it from many many times BUT no one is picking up the phone
Can I send the camera in for repair to Canon or Best Buy without the proof of purchase. Can i use my credit card statement as a proof of purchase.
Regards,
Frustrated Customer

Did you purchase the GS Black Tie Protection plan? If you did, your information should definitely be in the system.
If not, then a receipt would be required for repair. A CC statement wouldn't be acceptable.

This was Canon's response. So my only choice is to get that sales receipt from Best Buy in Pasadena. Makes me think about purchasing a camera overseas again.
Thank you for writing to us. We value you as a Canon customer and
appreciate the opportunity to assist you with your PowerShot SD750. We
are sorry to hear that the camera is taking blurry images.
Please mail your digital camera to the Factory Service Center shown
below. When shipping your camera, please be sure to remove the memory
card and batteries. You are not required to send any accessories or
manuals when shipping the camera. Be sure to include your name, street
address (no P.O. boxes, please), telephone number, and a letter
describing the issue with the product. Since it has been less than one
year since the camera was purchased, we ask that you also include proof
of warranty in the form of a copy of your sales receipt.
As we do not provide RMA numbers for service, we suggest using a
trackable and insurable service (i.e. UPS, Federal Express, Priority
Mail) to ship your camera. Please package the camera very securely in a
sturdy shipping box to prevent damage during shipment.
Unfortunately, since you are located outside of the United States, Canon
Factory Service Center in Illinois is unable to accept international
shipments. You may send the camera to a trusted contact (friend,
relative, etc.) that lives in the United States and send the camera to
them so they can send the camera to the factory service center, if you
would like to have the camera repaired in the U.S. We apologize for any
inconvenience this may cause.
Please have your contact send your camera to the following address:
Canon Factory Service
1440 Chase Ave.
Elk Grove Village, IL 60007
Upon arrival at the Factory Service Center, your camera will be logged
in to our repair database and assigned a repair number. Next, the
camera will be examined and you will be advised of the findings. If the
required repairs are covered by the warranty, the repairs will begin
immediately, and you will not be contacted. When the repairs are
complete, the camera will be shipped back to you via Federal Express.
The length of time for the repair will be dependent upon the nature of
the repair and availability of parts, if needed. Usually, warranted
repairs are completed within approximately ten to fourteen business days
of the camera's arrival at the Factory Service Center.
All decisions regarding warranty coverage are made by the Factory
Service Center at the time of repair. If the repair entails something
that is not covered in warranty, a written estimate will be sent to you
at the address that you have provided. The repairs to your camera will
not begin until you approve this estimate and make payment arrangements.
If, after receiving the estimate, you do not wish to have the camera
repaired, please inform the Factory Service Center of your decision as
soon as possible. If you decline the estimate, the camera will be
shipped back to you unrepaired.
Once you have confirmed with your shipper that the camera has been
delivered, you are more than welcome to contact us for repair updates.
Please include your name, address, and telephone number, as well as the
serial number of the camera, in all repair status inquiries.
Please note that our U.S. Factory Service Centers are unable to accept
packages from or return equipment to addresses outside the United
States.
We hope this information is helpful to you. Please let us know if we
can be of any further assistance with your PowerShot SD750.
Thank you for choosing Canon.
Sincerely,
Jonathan

I was going to mention that Canon's warranty probably doesn't cover internationally, but I wasn't sure.
If you paid by CC, and you're having them look up the receipt with that CC, then your receipt should be in the system.
The store can't really help you, because they can't email or fax receipts. Only 800BBY can do that.

That's my thought exactly.
I assumed my transaction will be in the main computer system, however upon calling 1800 twice and speaking to 2 different customer service staff...same result. They both advised me to call the store. Which I did.
So i am stuck at the moment. If there is someone high up in Best Buy listening pls respond. It should be a simple task.Look up my record send me my statement.
I am sure I am not the only one who have expereienced this problem. Such poor service from such a big company.

Hi mixays,
You'll be hearing soon from one of our Community Connectors, Allan, who will try to help locate that receipt for you. Thanks for your patience!

Hi mixays,
It sounds like you are being told one thing by the store, and are getting completely opposite advice from the customer service representatives you spoke to after calling 1-888-BestBuy. Hopefully I can clear this up for you and get you a copy of your receipt so you can finally get service done on the camera you purchased. I am sending you a private message to gather some information that I would need to begin to look for this receipt. To check your messages you should make sure you are logged into the forum, and then click on the letter icon in the upper right-hand corner of the page.
Thanks for posting,

Hi Allan,
It's taken a while BUT i can't thank you enough. Thanks also for explaining the reason why they couldn't find it. Now how do we pass the process learnt onto the customer reps on the 1800 number.
I'll be sure to keep the receipt in a safe place next time.
I am glad this forum existed otherwise I'll still be frustratingly looking for my receipt
Regards,
Happy Customer
