I spent a fortune on a warranty for my TV. I drove to best buy to get a replacement when it broke and they told me to take my TV back home and (because of my GREAT warranty) the Geek Squad will come fix it. So I call and set an appt. and when he arrives (2days later) they tell me they can’t fix it they have to order a part. So they came today (8-days later!!!!) and tell me the part the got in the mail was broken because it still doesn’t work and they have to order the same part again. So, I spent 350$ on the football package and I will miss the first week, maybe more if they still cant fix the problem. I DONT recommend buying the warranty or shopping at Best Buy. For those naysayer’s, I have been an advocate of Best Buy for a long time. I have my MasterCard through them for points and even though I can shop at the PX because I am military I was still shopping at Best Buy. I repeat, warranty is a scam and I don’t recommend shopping for anything of value at Best Buy.

I don't quite understand how it was a scam. What did your warranty pamphlet state?

Yeah, I'm a little confused about that too. I can see being upset or even angry that the repair is taking longer than you'd like, but to call this a scam does a disservice to all those who really have been scammed by Best Buy. Let us know if they refuse to repair the TV or if they replace it with something of lower value. ![]()

The warranty said that I would get a replacement TV until my tv was fixed. The scam is that I will be out a tv for three weeks. The warranty is a third of the cost of the tv. NO replacement tv was given. They told me "Your TV was bought in November and that is when that expries." I paid for a four year warranty BTW.

All best buy offers is a 4 year plan. Also did u pay for the standard or premium plan. Chances are seeing how you didn't talk about calibration u only got a standard plan.

The pamphlet states you would get a loaner only if you purchased the Premium. The standard does not include a loaner TV. Also it would not be considered a scam if they are coming out to fix your TV regardless of how long it takes. What your writing is very confusing and I think your leaving stuff out that would help us understand more of what happened and what was said.

WOW! I get BB wokers are blogging this, though I dont know why. Fact IS I again got a notice my TV ill not be fixed unitl next month. So If my TV was 750$ and my warranty was 350$ why should I have to wait over a month to get my tv fixed. I could go to a TV Repair shop (alomst any) and get it fixed for much less. When they come next month I know it still wont work because the free estimate I received from teh random TV guy said it was a ifferent problem now so I expect to get a new tv after geek squad cant fic it. This is funny and depressing at the same time. Funny enough is the response I received from everyone. BEST BUY WARRANTY IS A SCAM!!!!!!! No matter what the bloggers say, AGAIN heed my words a SCAM!

Hi pollockc,
I am never happy to hear that a customer will not be shopping with us anymore due to the service they have received from us, and I’m sure it is extremely frustrating waiting for your TV to be repaired when you are paying for your football package (especially since the season just started).
I do see that you purchased a Performance Service Plan (PSP) along with your TV, and although this plan does replace the product it covers under certain circumstances it is intended to repair your TV (in your home) not replace it.
I do show you called us on 8/30/2009, and we had a technician out to your home on 9/1/2009 that diagnosed the issue and ordered the parts needed to repair your TV. I then show the technician was out to your home on 9/9/2009 to install the part, but because it was found to be defective he had to re-order the part.
I would like to see if I can get you resolution in this matter so I am sending you a private message. To check your messages you should log into the forum, and click on the letter icon in the upper right-hand corner of the page.
Thanks for posting,
