hello, my xbox 360 broke recently (halo 3 ed.) due to what i think is the "defection", but this xbox came from a replacement on another normal xbox (they didn't have any normal ones left, so we got $400 pseudo gift card, yay for dodging depreciation!). Anyway, does this warranty still apply if it was within the two years starting from they first xbox?? And on top of that i can't find the warranty, would Best Buy have it on record for me to utilize?
But if the warranty fails me how much would the typical defected 360 cost to repair, if i can repair?

Hello Chez,
Most manufactures honor warranties based on the day of purchase. Check out this website from Microsoft. It should help otherwise you may want to contact there support team to get a 100% sure answer.

Hey chez,
Here’s the gist of how it works:
If your Xbox 360 is replaced within one year of your original console’s purchase date, your Best Buy® Product Replacement Plan (PRP) would carry over to the new console. The PRP remains active from the original date of purchase and is not extended when an exchange takes place. For example: if you purchased your original Xbox on 12/17/2006 and had it exchanged for an Xbox 360 on 05/03/2007, your PRP coverage would still be in effect for the 360 until 12/17/2008. Once beyond the one-year mark though, remember that PRP coverage is considered immediately fulfilled if Best Buy® replaces or exchanges the unit.
Please keep in mind that while Best Buy® does keep records all purchases made through its stores and on BestBuy.com, we are not always able to locate purchases that were made using cash or gift cards as tender. Copies of most receipts can easily be obtained by either speaking with an associate at your local store’s service desk, or by calling our Consumer Relations department at 1-888-BEST-BUY (1-888-237-8289).
Additionally, because we currently do not offer repair services for video game consoles, the best way to determine how much repairs would cost once your factory warranty and PRP coverage have expired would be to contact Microsoft directly. Xbox customer support can be reached by calling 1-800-4MY-XBOX (1-800-469-9269) or by visiting the following website:

Hope this helps you out!
