My 65" DLP Mitsubishi TV is down for repairs for the third holiday season in a row. While I can't hold BEST BUY responsible for the poor quality of the TV, they are responsible for the horrible customer service I've received while trying to obtain repairs under the extended warranty purchased from BEST BUY, and let's be very clear this is the BEST BUY warranty I have problems with "NOT THE MANUFACTURERS". The repairmen from BEST BUY never repaired the TV they only replaced lamps, which required weeks of waiting for the repairman and lamp shipments and did not repair the underlying problems. Finally a third party repair service correctly identified and repaired the problem, but only after weeks and many phone calls waiting for BEST BUY authorization. Now the TV has failed completely, BEST BUY has sent a third party repair service which removed the TV to their shop 12 days ago, and again I'm waiting for authorization after many phone calls by myself (2 calls were with customer service supervisors) and multiple authorization requests by the repair shop. BEST BUY's warranty process is slow, frustrating and a slap in the face to customers who purchase their products and warranties in good faith. I encourage anyone considering an electronic item purchase to do as much research as possible about the product in mind and then purchase it elsewhere if also buying an extended warranty.

Service is going to be lousy almost no matter where you buy your TV, but the fact that you have the extended warranty is the only reason you're not adding insult to injury. Yes, the customer service is despicable and yes you'll be treated like cattle by any massive company who already has your money. That's the choice we have all make every time we look for the lowest price first and service second. We have brought this on ourselves.

I am currently shopping around for three tv's, a 26" 32" and a 46" I had settled with all Samsungs from best buy until reading your forum.....Thank you very much, as the nearest best buy is around 35 miles from me, and I'm so glad you saved me from much aggravation.....Time to shop around.

Carol - you made a very wise decision. My advice is to go to a local TV shop that has been in business for a long time. Only a business that can stay open for 10 years or more has a local, reliable reputation. Best Buy is a rip-off from the git-go. You will be pressured to buy an extended warranty that is worthless. It's all lip service.
I bought my Sony TV - Flat Panel - from a Sony dealer. No problems going on 6 years. I've had my own horror stories dealing with Best Buy over my own laptop. Store manager hanging up on me. Geek Squad Captain or Corporal or whatever they call them hanging up on me. Ignorant, incompetent Geek Squad workers that don't know their A _ _ from a hole in the ground telling me this or that.
I'm glad you found this informative site. We saved you much heartache.
