TV out for repair - 4 weeks as of Today and the kids are driving us crazy

We don’t like to overuse the “electronic babysitter” (TV) too much but especially when we’re cooking dinner for the kids after we get home from work (my wife & I both work full time.)  And on weekends when we’re cleaning and the kids favorite cartoons are on it really helps to keep my two boys 2 & 5 occupied.

Well needless to say life has been a bit nuts lately because our TV has been out for repair for 4 weeks as of today.  It’s covered under the best-buy warrantee.  I think when consumers buy the extended warrantee the best buy employee should say something like:

“Would you like to buy the extended warrantee for your TV?  If it breaks we fix or replace it.  Of course this could take many weeks but you don’t mind NOT having a TV for that time DO YOU???”

Well, maybe that’s an exaggeration, but really – what’s the good of a warrantee if it takes so long?  I’ve been calling them once or twice a week – and every time it’s “we’re ordering a new part” or “it should be done soon” … why are they so sketchy??  Guess you get what you pay for and Best Buy must be paying the repair men very little?

Thanks,
Bart

Ok - so here's the latest - just got off the phone with the repair company - they're waiting on the warrantee company to approve a "G2 Board" ... Is that for real??

How long did it take from the initial call to be looked at before it started collecting dust in a repair shop somewhere in never never land?

Hi LouisIII,

No family would enjoy being without their TV for a month, and I can certainly understand you be very frustrated with how long this repair is taking. It sounds like you are a very dedicated parent, and this has put undue stress on your family.

I would like to work with you towards the fastest possible resolution for you in this TV repair, and I am sending you a private message to begin that process. To check your messages you should log into the forum, and then click on the letter icon in the upper right-hand corner of the page.
