I bought my PS3 two years ago with P.S.P. It broke once already, and was told by bestbuy to use the manufacturers warranty. I did, and got a refurb back. Lately it's been getting real loud when it's on and since I have a year left in the PSP, I thought i could send it in for service. What I want to know is;
1. What do I need to bring( boxes/manuals too?)
2. The original controller that came with the system is pretty messed up, could they repair the controller too? I remember accidental dropping it, and the controller was open from the seam.
3. Would it be possible to exchange it for the slim? or would I need to use the "no-lemon" policy?
4.how long do repairs take?

If I am remembering properly, PS3s sold two years ago fell under the Product Replacement Plan (PRP), vs. Performance Service Plan (PSP). If that is the case, you would need to bring everything in to exchange the unit. I will have to have someone confirm the PRP/PSP on the PS3 question (oy, say that 5 times fast...), however.
As for the controller... It will not be repaired. Accidental damage is not covered by either plan for the PS3.
If the unit is exchanged in-store, you can use the store credit you'd receive towards the Slim, yes. If it was to be 'repaired', then no.
All game systems usually, if they are to be sent out, are usually handled by Rapid Exchange, which is 7-10 days.
Again, I'll have to let someone confirm the PRP/PSP on the PS3 details, just to make sure we get you a 100% right answer. ![]()

Why is that?

That's an agreement between BB and the vendor.

Hello xghost123 -
Great questions! First and foremost, if your unit is 2 years old, it should fall under a Product Replacement Plan, and should qualify for a replacement. I am not quite clear as to why the store would have referred to you for your first issue, because that does not fall under our normal protocol, however you would need to have some sort of documentation to even use the PRP now, because the serial numbers will not match to the one you originally purchased.
Ensure that you bring all items back with the unit to the store, including the controller in question. Since we do not cover accidental damage, the store will more than likely keep one of the functional controllers out of the new box.
I hope this helps!

Alright so even thought I purchased the "Product Service Plan", I still qualify for the "Product Replacement Plan" because my unit is two years old? is this different for Canada? also, I did receive a sheet when I received my PS3 back from repair, but I don't think I have it anymore.
