Hello, back in April I purchased a xbox 360 PRO with 2 year warranty for $80. I have bought and used Best buy's warranty in the past on other items and have always been happy with the warranty. Recently I have found out that the new warranty is different from the previous ones and they repair/give you a refurb instead of just giving you a new one on the spot. I know Microsoft gives you a 3 year warranty now on the Xbox anway, and if I am getting a refurb I may as well just get it from Microsoft for free.. I would like if possible to cancel my warranty and possibly get a prorated refund either with cash or best buy gift card. I have not used the warranty since purchased, is this possible?

Hi there! You can most certainly get a prorated amount for your Black Tie Protection plan. I am not sure if Microsoft's 3 yr warranty covers as much as we do, can Nokia or another contributor elaborate on the 3yr Microsoft Warranty?

Hi. I purchased a computer package from Best Buy yesterday and purchased the Standard Warranty for $99.99. I decided that I do not need that warranty. How do I go about this? Will I get a full refund? Do I have to take in everything or jus tmy receipt?

You can take your receipt in to your local store for a refund. Why have you decided you no longer need it?

I recently had an hour long discussion of Microsoft's policies regarding their XBox 360 Warranty. Keep in mind that the three year warranty offered by Microsoft will only cover the Red Ring of Death and E74 error. Any other issues are only covered under their standard limited warranty. Nokia made a good point regarding the differences in coverage. I would like to add on the fact that after Microsoft has made one replacement under their 3-year policy, that will be it. Best Buy will not cancel your coverage like that.
The decision to not do an in store exchange, as it used to be, was due to Microsoft changing their policies and the way they deal with best buy.
The Geek Squad Black Tie Protection is well worth it, in my opinion, once you consider the differences in coverage between microsoft's standrard and 3-year warranty and Best Buy's Geek Squad Protection plan.

Hello WhiteyFord -
You are indeed able to return your Geek Squad® Black Tie Protection Plan to any retail Best Buy® location for a prorated refund. Please ensure you bring your receipt along with you!
Thanks!

Hello stars -
You would want to bring your receipt back to any Best Buy® location for a refund. The store will be able to ascertain what type of refund you will receive, but I do believe it should be a full refund if you are within your 30 day return period.
Thanks!
