Re: Replacement plan my butt.

first of all it was bought in april 2005 and why would sony give me wrong information.? you sell their products and rip people off for one year of warranty. why would i have 2 insurances or protection plans on the same item for the same year? c'mon this is just another way of the old saying "passing the buck"

Re: Replacement plan my butt.

I'm saying that SONY mis-informed you about BEST BUY's plans. A 4 year plan purchased in April of 05 is going to be good until April of 09. It's going to run for one year in conjunction with your manufacturer's warranty.

It's like cell phones. If you purchase the insurance through your carrier, you still have a manufacturer's warranty, AT THE SAME TIME that you have the insurance. One doesn't pick up when the other starts.

As I said before, you asked SONY about the BEST BUY plan that you purchased. Sony doesn't have the information about our plans any more than we at Best Buy have information about Wally World plans (if they even offer any).

Re: Replacement plan my butt.

i still think its a rip off and best buy should take the time to explain this and also you say after 3 repairs it is replaced but that is also untrue ,they dont tell you that at the time , the sales people just say buy the insurance and we will replace the tv and do not tell you of equal value so, people buy this plan and think they are protected till something happens and they go to get a replacement and find out that the tv you had is now either more money to purchase or is less than what you thought. if they tell you they will replace the tv they have a little phrase in there they do not explain that the tv may be worth less than what you paid but why dont best buy just be upfront and honest about all this. why hide behind words with no meaning.

Re: Replacement plan my butt.

Hi jojo1955,

I can definitely understand your disappointment to learn that you no longer had coverage for your television as you were led to believe by Sony.  Unfortunately, we can't accept responsibility for incorrect information given to you by another company; we can accept responsibility for the fact that our terms and conditions do advise our customers that all plans begin on the date of purchase and run concurrently with any manufacturer's warranty coverage.  Also, in the event a replacement is approved, we do state that a comparable replacement would be provided not to exceed the original purchase price - this means replacement looks at feature for feature, not dollar for dollar.  I'm sorry for any confusion as we certainly wish to make these as clear as possible so our customers know what to expect.

Thanks for sharing your feedback.

Re: Replacement plan my butt.

There are many terms and conditions. Not all of them can be stated at the time of sale, unless the customers asks. I have never had a problem answering questions about the Ts&Cs when someone asks me. I'm very rarely asked, though. In the end, it's the customer's responsibility to be knowledgable about what they are buying. It's one thing if you're given false information. It's entirely another if you just neglect to ask.
