OK, So I have the same issue with my Toshiba 50HP66 Plasma TV. And yes I was fortunate enough to have purchased the service contract. But the problem is if Toshiba and Best Buy both know that the TV has this issue, why isn't someone trying to mak it right? I purchased the TV for 2100.00 and I'm here to tell you that if it cannot last longer than a couple of years before I have to have it worked on, it surely isn't worth the money. I had a 32" Pro Scan that we used for over 10 years prior to this tv and NEVER had it worked on. Kids played Nintendo games for hours on end and never had an issue. This TV only gets used a couple hours at most on weekdays and a 5 to 8 hours on Weekends and it fails after 2 years.
I'm still waiting for a service tech to come and repair the TV, I get more run arounds that the horse track. They schedule service just to call and state that they have over booked and then I have to wait 2 to 3 more days fo the scheduling of another tech that will only be in my area on a certain day of the week. Going on 3 weeks now. I even know what the problem is and the correct part to fix the thing, but if I work on it, it voids my service contract. So you know, this is BS. The part number to repair the TV is 75003044 and it is the Power PCB ASM 50HP. this is the part that fails in the TV if anyone needs to know. Everyone on the internet knows, but no one from Toshiba will acknowledge it.

Hi vmgordon,
I definitely agree that three weeks without even having your TV looked at by a technician seems excessive, and after being patient I am sure being asked to reschedule your appointment was very upsetting.
If the problem with your TV is a known issue with your model and it is considered a defect in all models Toshiba should issue a recall on this model. I have a feeling that most consumer electronics made nowadays won’t last nearly as long as the consumer electronics purchased in past years, and an example of this that I have is my ten year old 50 inch RCA Tube TV that has gotten daily use since I purchased it and is still going strong.
I would like to offer my services as an advocate on your behalf in this repair and am sending you a private message to get the ball rolling. To check your message you should log into the forum and then click on the letter icon in the upper right-hand corner of the page.
Thanks for posting your concern,
Allan
