I am looking at picking up the new 360 slim model and I wanted to know what protection plans are offered, prices and the policies on in-store exchanges for replacements. I am planning on buying this in Raleigh, NC due to plans this weekend and my local store is in Wilson, NC and I was wondering if I purchase the plan in Taleigh if I will be able to use it at the Wilson location as well. I won't go into too much detail since I'm in Finance class atm (don't tell the professor I'm on the net in class, lol) but for the 360, if the unit goes bad, under Black Tie, the unit goes off for Rapid Exchange where you get a refurbished unit back within about a week normally rather than sending it off for a few weeks for repair. It can be sent off from any Best Buy in the U.S. so it doesn't have to go to the same store you purchased it from. As of this moment, there are no plans for in-store replacements for the Xbox 360 of course even when there were in-store replacements, when the unit was replaced, the Black Tie was used up and you had to purchase a new plan. Under Rapid Exchange, when the unit is replaced with a refurbished unit, your Black Tie continues and you do not have to purchase a new plan until or if you require a 4th replacement. At that time, it would be replaced with a new unit in-store and you would then need to purchase a new Black Tie plan on the new unit.
