Product Service Plan...SCAM

My iPod's usb connection is broken or loose or something, and since I purchased the PSP (Product Service Plan, $60) I took it to Geek Squad.  What a joke.  Twice now they "restored the software"...something I could easily do at home with 3 clicks.  I called the 1800 number since it was after hours, and the customer service rep told me the only thing I can do is take it and have Geek Squad fix it.  Clearly they don't know how or are just too lazy to properly fix it.  I don't think they even cracked it open to look at it.  I'm going to have Apple fix it, even if I have to pay, it will be worth it.  After the 30 day return policy, Best Buy's customer service blows.

Did you fully describe the problem to them? It seems odd that they would just restore it if you mentioned that it is a hardware problem.

 

Also, remember that the agents you talk to at the store are not the ones doing the repairs. It is sent out to the service center, and they don't have the benefit of talking to you. I would bring it back in and demonstrate the problem to them.
