Did you fully describe the problem to them? It seems odd that they would just restore it if you mentioned that it is a hardware problem.
Also, remember that the agents you talk to at the store are not the ones doing the repairs. It is sent out to the service center, and they don't have the benefit of talking to you. I would bring it back in and demonstrate the problem to them.
