Product Exchange Plan

I purchased a cellphone, LG GW300FD, at the beginning of Sep 2010. After 1 week, I found out there were some recepetion problems with it, so I went to the store again to get an exchange phone, which was within 14days after the phone was purchased. At the same time, I paid 5 dollars for the product exchange plan immediately (I thought it was some hidden fee for exchange and I only need to pay it once). However, it turned out to be a 3 year warranty.  It's ridiculous that I need to pay 200+ dollars for the warranty which is way higher than the purchased price of the cell phone, 70 dollars. So, I've the customer services recently, and they told me that I can not cancel the plan since it has passed the first 30 days. Is there any way I can cancel the plan?

Re: Product Exchange Plan

Hi young11,

I can certainly understand you not wanting to pay $200 to protect a $70 phone, and I am truly sorry that you weren’t told how much your Geek Squad Black Tie Protection (GSBTP) plan would end up costing.

I truly apologize for any incorrect information you have received while trying to cancel this GSBTP plan. A customer has two choices on how to pay for a GSBTP plan on a mobile phone purchased from Best Buy®. They can pay a monthly fee for the period of two years to protect their investment, or they can pay the entire amount at the time of the purchase.

If you are on a monthly fee plan you can cancel your plan at anytime, and will no longer be charged a monthly fee. If you paid the entire price of this plan up front you can get a pro-rated refund any time during the life of your plan.

I would like to personally look into this, and I am sending you a private message to gather some personal information I would need in order to help. To check your messages you should log into the forum, and then click on the letter icon in the upper right-hand corner of the page.

Thanks for posting,

Re: Product Exchange Plan

Yep, that's what I thought. Unfortunately, this forum is only for the assistance of BB US customers. BB Canada customers need to call 1-866-BESTBUY for assistance.
