I just bought the 160 gb ps3 just about 6 months ago and I normally play it everyday works great. recently I didn't play it for 3 days and I go to turn it on today and it will not turn on the red like turns green then blinks to yellow and then back to red. I was wondering if my warranty that I bought covers this and what will I need to do. Please help as soon as possible. -matt

Hey Matt,
As long as the problem you’re experiencing is the result of a hardware defect or normal wear-and-tear it should be covered by your service plan. What you need to do next, however, really depends upon what type of service plan coverage you purchased.
If you purchased your PS3 on or before 09/13/2008 then you most likely have a Product Replacement Plan (PRP). With a PRP, all that you need to do is bring the defective console and a copy of your original receipt to the repair counter at your local Best Buy store to process an exchange. Alternatively, you can always call our PRP hotline at 1-888-539-6883 to file a claim over the phone. Either way, just keep in mind that a technician must be able to verify that your console is defective in order for it to qualify for an exchange.
If you purchased your PS3 on or after 09/14/2009, however, then you would have purchased Geek Squad® Black Tie Protection (GSBTP) for the console. Unlike PRPs, GSBTP requires that repairs be sought first and foremost. To seek repairs, simply bring the console to the service counter at your local store and one of our in-store technicians would be glad to assist you.
I hope this helps you out, but please feel free to let me know if you have any other questions. You can send me a private message by clicking on either my signature below or the letter icon in the upper right-hand corner of the page.

Currently, PS3s are replaced. so you should end up with a replacement. However, you mentioned that you subjected it to impact, so any damage would not be covered, as the GSBTP plan does not cover physical damage.
