Re: Playstation 3 Purchase Question

If it is indeed a service plan, and the console cannot be repaired, it'll be replaced with a comparable unit.

Re: Playstation 3 Purchase Question

Hey e46rj,

Nokia’s already beaten me to the punch regarding our price match policy (we don’t price match bundle offers), so I’d be glad to help clarify exactly what you’re getting when you purchase a Geek Squad® Black Tie Protection Plan.

First of all, it’s important to know that all GSBTP plans – including Gadgets & Gizmos plans – provide repairs first and foremost. There are, however, sometimes vendor agreements in place that preclude us from providing repairs on select products, so we simply replace them instead. Regrettably, I cannot guarantee that PS3s fall under this category.

Next, remember that our service plans run concurrently with the manufacturer’s warranty. In other words, you’re covered by both Sony and Best Buy for the first year and by Best Buy alone for the year after that. Additionally, if your PS3 winds up being exchanged during the original factory warranty period your GSBTP coverage would transfer over to the replacement console.

Last, but far from least, GSBTP coverage provides you a local service option. Rather than having to contact Sony directly and possibly pay for shipping, you can simply stop by the Geek Squad counters at your local store for assistance.

I hope this helps you out!

Re: Playstation 3 Purchase Question

Awesome, Thanks Aaron and Nokia for the quick and strait forward info! Thanks to everyone else for their input, also.

I was already leaning toward the GSBT plan for the "extra" year of coverage and the fact that I don’t have to ship items out and have a ridiculous lead time.

I just needed the clarification before hand for leverage, if you will.

Hopefully see you online, and I'll surely be back to the forums to contribute!
