PRP no longer exists?

So what I am reading now is that the there is a new Gizmos and Gadgets policy.  Did that replace the old Product Replacement Plan? Or does it sill and exist and there are options to what ever plan you would want.  For instance you someone would have the option to get the product service plan, or gizmos and gadgets plan, or even the PRP if it still exists.

I'm asking this because I havea PRP from 2 years ago, and I plan on using it soon because my xbox 360 has been getting E74 errors and game slowdowns.  It's on the brink.  I'm just wondering if I use it up now and decide to buy another warranty with the new system, what are my options of warranty plans?  If the old PRP doesn't even exist anymore I see no reason of buying any of the warranties. In-store exchange is the reason I bought the warranty, and since it's 2 years old I hope it would be honored.

Re: PRP no longer exists?

The 2yr PRP will be honored since that is what you purchased. If you decide to get a new service plan on your new Xbox, that plan would either repair your unit or send you a refurbished unit as replacement.

Re: PRP no longer exists?

I wanted to point a few things out. First, the G&G plan that replaced the PRP no longer exists. It has been replaced by the GSBTP-Replacement plan. Also, it does not cover RROD or E74 errors. You would have to deal directly with MS for those.

Re: PRP no longer exists?

Okay so I read about the Black Tie protection plan and read what it's all about.  I do understand the lemon policy which is okay, I guess, but in-store exchange are what's best IMO. But man, the reason why I get it at Best Buy was because of the "great" PRP it had.

I remember before I bought my xbox 2 years ago, that getting a good warranty was my first priority. Pretty pathetic eh? Majority of info I found online told me to get the xbox at Best Buy because of the PRP.  Now it is gone? The only reason why I think it's replaced is because the xbox is such a faulty machine, people would take advantage of the PRP.  Any of you Community Connectors and others know reasons why the PRP policy was changed? Was offering the old PRP too easy for customers to take advantage of thus becoming burdens?

Re: PRP no longer exists?

Oh that makes sense.  Best Buy wouldn't lose profit, but Microsoft would just lose a console pretty much for free.  Well thanks for all the answers everyone.  The only issue I have left is if my Xbox constantly breaks down so that it can be verified broken when the store tests it out.
