Hi vcholman,
I can certainly understand you being upset that your Performance Service Plan (PSP) expired right before you were able to arrange for service on your TV, and I truly am sorry for all the aggravation this has caused you. I do see that Brian on our Executive Resolutions team has been in contact with you, and it looks like he was able to provide you a resolution in this matter. I truly wish you the very best, and if you do need further assistance I would suggest reaching back out to Brian on this.
Thanks for posting,

It's been a few days since my last posting and I thought to bring this POST to a close, the right thing is to give a final update on my warranty situation. I honestly believed I had a good argument regarding my defective Mitsubishi DLP even though the warranty had just expired. My determination was to keep researching to find someone in management at the right level that would listen and understand. The generic 800 Best Buy phone number will only get you to someone in a 3rd world country who has limited authority. I focused on the corporate headquarters in Richfield, MN. I feel it is only right to keep the persons name who I spoke with anonymous.
I directed my attention to the Executive Resolution department. Best Buy agreed to compensate by offering a in-store credit towards the purchase of a new television. The amount offered was very gracious and it covered all but $100 towards a new 60 inch LED television. I was only required to pay the tax on the $100 and of course I purchased their 4 year protection plan. I offered my gratitude and I'm very pleased with the out come. Because of Best Buy's good will to protect their image and to uphold high standards in Total Customer Satisfaction, I will continue to be a customer with this company.
Sure I was very lucky, but like many people when they hear "Sorry there's nothing we can do for you" from the first person they talk with; they accept it as final. This is America and I honestly believe at the top of the corporate ladder the executives want to protect their companies reputation to continue to be successful and of course profitable. Please if anyone believes they have a good case/argument stand-up for yourself and work your way up the corporate chain. If you succeed, then your determination will have paid off; if you fail, then you can be content that you gave it your best shot.
For me, I was very fortunate. My new LED TV is beautiful and I got a better deal then by having it repaired. Something different could have gone bad with my old TV a few months later, as it turned out; I'm protected for another 4 years.
Thank you Best Buy and Mr. B
Vance
