I own a 42" Samsung DLP TV that was purchased 10/1/2005 with a 4 yr DTV PSP. Over the past 3 months Geek Squad has replaced the DLP Engine 2 times for major picture issues which initially were fixed, but quickly became a problem again. Now i'm having the same problem with the picture and although the last repair is covered under the 30 day service repair warranty, my PSP ran out on the first of this month. I've been given 3 different explainations concerning my situation by Geek Squad Phone Techs.
1. My PSP has expired and aside from the 30 day service warranty, I have no coverage.
2. The TV is still covered under the 'no lemon' policy as long as the problem comes up before the 30 day service warranty expires.
3. "I have no idea what they would do."
My question is if the DLP Engine needs to be replaced again, will the no lemon policy be honored or will I be out of luck?
I understand that the policy was for 4 years and it has technically run out, but this problem started before the policy ran out and continues without repair.
Also, I read in another post about a 42" Samsung DLP TV, that in the event that an exchange is authorized, a $550 Insignia LCD is considered a comparable exchange for a $2000 Samsung (in 2005). Is this true? I was led to believe that the exchange was based on the original purchase price. Now I read that it's only comparable technology.
Please give me an idea of what my options are. If i'm going to be left out in the cold over this my next TV definately will not be purchased from Best Buy.

Hi tipdogg,
It sounds like you have had quite the repair experience over the past three months, and I can definitely understand just wanting a working TV at this point.
Without looking into your specific repair experience it would be difficult to say for sure how this would be handled if you needed another DLP engine replaced. I can say that if the current repair is only being covered by our 30 day service warranty, and your service plan has expired, the no lemon clause in your Performance Service Plan (PSP) would not be applicable to the current repair.
I would like to personally look into this, and I am sending you a private message to gather some personal information. To check your messages you should log into the forum, and then click on the letter icon in the upper right-hand corner of the page.
