Re: Never again

Just thought I would update this so the good people here would know what the outcome was.

Allan sent me a couple of messages and I assume he tried to work it out with the store in question bit I was never contacted by them and in the end there was no resolution.

I am happy to report that I have really stepped up my efforts to make sure everyone I know (or sometimes those I just come in contact with) knows of my experience. I have to say when most people hear about the school coupon book they are pretty appalled.

Re: Never again

Usually when someone I come in contact with (whom I don't know) tells me a story like yours I respond like I am listening and react as that person expects me to. Then when we part ways I totally forget that person and whatever it was they told me.

I'm not saying that I forget negative stories told to me about Best Buy. I'm saying I forget whatever the story was for ALL stores that I normally shop. Until I actually experience the same disappointments myself, I tend not to entirely believe the story - of the person I don't know that has come in contact with me.

I'm not trying to make light of you or your situation, I did read it and am still a little confused as to what this coupon book was. I am only -only- responding to your efforts to make sure everyone knows of it and how I react to people feeling the need to educate me on their experience.

A case in point: Someone once told me about a horrible experience they had traveling to a country I've gone to several times myself. They were beaten up, jailed and eventually kicked out of the country. I still go to that country, because I have never been mistreated there. I can't tell you who told me or what the whole experience was, because I didn't know them and promptly forgot. The country is Austria.

Before posting I try to research everything first or use my own experiences. I do not now nor have I ever worked for Best Buy. I work for the competition.
If you respond to a post of mine, I will read it. I may or may not post in the thread again, but rest assured I will read your response :smileyhappy:

Re: Never again

Just to be clear, I'm not bashing Best Buy in general. I got the impression that Allan actually tried to help me. I'm bashing my particular store. I'm also not just walking up to people I don't know and telling my tale. But if I'm at a school function and mention how Best Buy wont honor their coupon as small talk, it does draw a bit of a reaction.

I do know that they lost my business. As a programmer, gamer, audiophile and general techno nerd, I am someone who buys electronics fairly regularly. I'm currently looking for a new laptop and I want the keyboard dock for the Transformer Prime my company just gave me. I'm also the guy that gets asked for advise when someone is about to purchase electronics.

Re: Never again

The unfortunate truth is that these problems aren't coming from just your Best Buy store. Reading through all of the complaints on these forums you will find many cases similar to yours.

I agree with your choice to educate those around you as to the shady dealings of Best Buy and in fact do the same. I hope you find better deals/services from better stores in the future.
