Need help with hp Dv7.

Hey what’s up guys. This is my first post here so if this is the wrong place for my question sorry.

I purchased an hp dv7 laptop from best buy in oct of 08. Well a few weeks ago my dial up modem went out and after many hours on the phone and updating uninstalling an reinstalling im sure that the modem is just bad. Yes im still on dial up that all that available to me. Hp says they will send me a box to send it in for repairs. Witch I would rather not have to do if I don’t have to. Can I bring it to my local best buy (geek squad) for warranty repairs?? Iv always had a good experience with the geek squad guys so if I can just take it to them that would be better than sending it to tem buck too. I’m a photographer and I make my living off my laptop so I would like to keep it as close as I can. So what do you guys think I should do? Thanks in advance…

It's gonna be sent off whether you give it to BB or HP. It's up to you.

I’m sorry to hear about your recent computer troubles! I can imagine how disappointed you must have felt though to discover your modem was not working properly, especially if you took the time to reinstall all the necessary drivers.

You’ll be happy to hear, however, that Best Buy® is an authorized service provider for most brands we carry – HP included. To seek repairs, simply stop by the Geek Squad® counter at your local store with your computer and a copy of your original receipt. Just keep in mind though that while we are an authorized service provider, our in-store technicians are not always factory certified to perform the necessary repairs. As such, your computer may be shipped to one of our off-site service centers, even if replacement parts are immediately available on a store shelf.
