Manufacturer warranty

i got a klipsch sub 10 from a local BestBuy here on 03/08...and recently it stopped working. i brought it to the store where i bought it and asked them if they could repair it. they said that they cant repair it since its warranty is already expired (past 1yr already). and that i did not purchase thier extended warranty.  but this is what the klipsch website is stating..

" KLIPSCH, LLC ("KLIPSCH") warrants this product to be free from defects in materials and workmanship (subject to the terms set forth below) for a period of five (5) years from the date of purchase. During the Warranty period, KLIPSCH will repair or replace (at KLIPSCH's option) this product or any defective parts (excluding electronics and amplifiers). For products that have electronics or amplifiers, the Warranty on those parts is for a period of two (2) years from the date of purchase.

To obtain Warranty service, please contact the KLIPSCH authorized dealer from which you purchased this product. If your dealer is not equipped to perform the repair of your KLIPSCH product, it can be returned, freight paid, to KLIPSCH for repair. Please call KLIPSCH at 1-800-KLIPSCH for instructions. You will need to ship this product in either its original packaging or packaging affording an equal degree of protection."

Since BestBuy is the authorized dealer they should honor this warranty right?

Re: Manufacturer warranty

Have you tried contacting Klipsch? It does say that if the auth. dealer cannot perform the repair, you'll need to contact Klipsch.

Re: Manufacturer warranty

yes, i have contacted Klipsch and was able to talk to a representative. she said that BestBuy is required to service the product since it is still in the warranty period even if i didnt purchase the extended warranty. and it is on their contract with Klipsch.

Re: Manufacturer warranty

Hi Pong,

I really do apologize for any miscommunication that happened when you brought your subwoofer to the store, and you are absolutely correct that your subwoofer should still be covered by your manufacturer's warranty. I believe the warranty period on your subwoofer would be two years since a powered subwoofer does contain an amplifier. You are also correct that our service centers are authorized by Klipsch to repair their products.

The store should have been able to send your subwoofer out for service as long as they had receipt information from when you purchased the subwoofer. I would suggest going back to your local Best Buy® store and ask to speak to a manager, or if you would like me to contact your local store for you just send me a private message with the location of this store. To send me a private message you should log into the forum, click on my icon, and then click on the send this user a private message link. I hope this helps!

Thanks for posting,
