I have a compaq presario cq50-139wm purchased last november during walmarts promotion (so it's still under warrenty). It has recently had problems (the inherent connecter port problem with many compaq notebooks) and I'm going to bring it into Best Buy for service. What should I bring with when I bring it in? Do I need any of the manuals or warrenty booklets it came with? I still have everything my notebook came with, so getting it is not a problem, it's what I'm going to need that is.

Hi there katiekatgurl and welcome to the community. Best Buy is only able to service units under manufacture warranty that were originally purchased or sold at Best Buy. You can contact Compaq (HP) directly for service, if you would like. Their number is 1-800-HP-INVENT.

Thank you for the correction. I was under the impression that best buy would be able to service my notebook from the HP website itself. I'll contact them directly.

Good afternoon katiekatgurl
We should be able to repair the computer under HP/Compaq’s warranty for you. However, we would need a copy of the original receipt for the product to confirm the purchase date. There are some exceptions to what we can repair. If our service center is unable to repair it, we will act as the shipping agent to the manufacturer.
I apologize about the confusion around this. I recommend bringing it to your local Geek Squad® precinct for repair. Please let us know how it goes!
Thanks,
