Hi,
I purchased the white Macbook from Best Buy about a year and a half ago along with the purchase of a standard two-year warranty. I am a student and use my Macbook frequently and something is going on with the charge. For a couple of weeks my LED light on my charger has been very dim and does not charge 100% of the time, and now my battery life is on average under an hour and turns off a lot because of not getting any charge from the charger. I do not know if it is a problem with my charger or my battery, but will this problem be covered and if so, how long does a replacement usually take? I do not live close to a best buy so unfortunately would have an hour or two drive to get to one and would like to know what the estimated time for something like this to be fixed. Thanks, sorry for all the questions!
Nicole

If the Macbook was from 2008 or before and it has the coin-turn switch to take out the battery you should be able to order it through 1-888-BESTBUY and ask for the Part Search department. If its a Macbook (Late 2009) like the one I'm writing this message on, then you would need to send it out which can take about two to maybe three weeks because of shipping times and having the parts team retrieve the part. The power adapters for any laptop I've seen can be shipped to your residence. One thing that you might want to do in the future is to use the battery power without the power adapter plugged in as long as you can before you start charging it, having it plugged in all the time CAN reduce battery quality. If you were to call up the Best Buy you plan on going to they can give you more accurate quotes.

Hello Nicole (ngerych),
Based on what you described, I imagine that the problem should be covered under your service plan. Like Nokia mentioned though, your service options will depend on the results of an in-store diagnostic. If the AC adapter is defective, a replacement can be ordered and shipped to your home within a few business days. If the laptop has suffered an electrical short, it will need to be sent out for service and may be gone for 2-3 weeks.
If you have any additional questions, please let me know. I would also invite you to send me a private message with the service order number provided by the store if your Macbook does need to be sent out for service – I’d be glad to monitor any necessary repairs and provide you updates as they become available. You can send me a PM by signing into the forums and then clicking on either my signature below or the letter icon in the upper right-hand corner of the page.
