Laptop warranty nightmare. Cheapest replacements

I purchased my laptop in 2005, since then I have had

 ·         3 battery replacements.  ·         4 battery charger replacements. ·         One DVD optical drive replaced. ·

And now my screen colors are gone & the battery is dead again. ( I have to keep my laptop plugged) Best buys replacement products are the worse. The battery charger they send me are the cheapest ones around, after a couple of months of use, the chargers stop working. And now I really do not want to give my laptop away for 4 weeks to get the colors fixed.

I regretfully renewed my policy this year and now I am just looking for a refund, because it is a nightmare going to the store waiting in long lines and giving away my laptop for a month with a temporary fix.  I am looking to buy a new laptop. DEF NOT FROM BEST BUY!

Re: Laptop warranty nightmare. Cheapest replacements

Hey rabjafri,

Having three batteries, four battery chargers, and a DVD optical drive replaced on your laptop in four years sounds excessive to me; and I can imagine the thought of another repair on your laptop would be very upsetting. It sounds like you have a Performance Service Plan (PSP) that covered the replacement of the batteries, chargers, and covered the repair of your laptop when your optical drive was replaced; and it also sounds like you renewed the PSP before it expired in order to continue to provide coverage for your laptop. I am a little confused about the battery replacements since a PSP should only replace a laptop battery once during the life of the plan.

You mentioned wanting a refund, and that would not be possible if you are referring to a refund of the purchase of the laptop. The return or exchange period for laptop computers is 14 days, and after that timeframe we would no longer be able to return or exchange a laptop. One option you would have, other than going ahead with the repair, would be to get a pro-rated refund on the renewed PSP by calling 1-866-287-1039. Keep in mind that if you do get a refund on the PSP it will of course no longer be valid. If there are any specific requests you have for me just send me a message.
