Re: Laptop screen dead pixels, accidental or manufacturer warranty?

Well these are not actualy 2 dead pixels, thats a whole bunch of dead pixels at one spot making a round shape and another one just an inch below that , again a bunch of dead pixels together making a sword like shape just less than an inch in size. So don`t tell me how much are there, i have a very good example and some advices for you but i had to take my baby to the emergency and just got back from there, am really tired and don't have time to waste on you right now, but do check for my reply tomorrow ok. Take care.

Re: Laptop screen dead pixels, accidental or manufacturer warranty?

No need to attack me. If you have more than what is required, it is covered and they will send it back out to get that fixed.

Re: Laptop screen dead pixels, accidental or manufacturer warranty?

I am not attacking you, just letting you know that how it feels if you go to a hospital for hair plantation, and they all of a sudden gives you anesthesia and make you unconscious, and after sometime when you wake up they tell you hay buddy you are good to go, your HEART transplant was very successful. Just tell me how much happiness will this bring on your face? The way they dealt with this matter is completely unprofessional. Fixing it again is not something I want, because they did something to it which wasn’t supposed to be done. If they found some additional issues, then they should have mentioned it in the note that why they changed other parts. And do you think after these much hardware issues I won’t need a replacement? Of course I want a replacement now. I was one of the 1st few people who bought this laptop from BestBuy no matter what reviews were saying about it. I am technology enthusiast and I want it to nourish, and I contribute for it on my part. I used to love BestBuy and wanted to buy everything from there. But I don’t know how they love to screw up things.

Re: Laptop screen dead pixels, accidental or manufacturer warranty?

Hello awais_487,

Thank you for all of your patience while our agents work on your computer.  CrystalWoW is correct that 2 dead pixels would not be covered under your service plan, however it sounds like your issue was a little more serious than that. It looks like our agents were able to identify a hairline crack after some communication back and forth from our Service Center to your local store.  The LCD screen was replaced and shipped back to your local store second day air. It is expected back by the end of the day tomorrow and you should receive a call in the next day or two to confirm when it is ready for pick up.

I know it came as a surprise that we changed out your video card. We did identify an issue with it while we were running diagnostics and wanted to make sure we covered all of our bases. That doesn’t excuse us for missing the screen repair the first time around and I apologize for the inconvenience.  We appreciate all of your patience. I trust that your computer will arrive back in working order, but please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns along the way.

Re: Laptop screen dead pixels, accidental or manufacturer warranty?

Hi Doug,

Phewwwww, at last talking to someone who knows something, this laptop had one more issue that it was giving a lot of noise while going to sleep mode on closing the lid, can you check the records and tell me if that has been addressed too or not? or was that video card changed due to this issue?

Re: Laptop screen dead pixels, accidental or manufacturer warranty?

Hello again awais_487,

I just took another look at that first repair ticket and it looks like the issue with the sleep was addressed.  Here's our agent's note from the service center directly out of your ticket history:

"Replaced video card. Unit wakes up from going to sleep properly. Unit passed hardware testing."

When he wasn't able to identify the dead pixels or the screen crack, it looks like he turned his attention to getting the sleep issue solved. Hang in there; it's almost back.

Cheers,

Re: Laptop screen dead pixels, accidental or manufacturer warranty?

Yeah that was another issue that if laptop was in sleep mode and i would start it up, it would just shut down in the middle of starting up process. and i hope the noise issue was also addressed. and of course Doug, am waiting very impatiently for my laptop to come back.

Re: Laptop screen dead pixels, accidental or manufacturer warranty?

Well they called me yesterday that laptop is back, so i went to that bestbuy store today, tested it, screen was replaced but there looked like some dirt on the screen, which i tried to clean but wasn't going away, even geek squad guy tried to remove it but couldn't, i said well i will try to remove it back at home, will see tonight with that, new screen's lid is broken from right side, although its very tiny. took it back home it had 40% battery charge, i started the laptop to check it a little more, i plugged in the laptop charger so that i don't run out of charge, and boooom, laptop went total black, shut down or crashed or whatever but that was so quick. so i quickly un-plugged it, and then plugged it again, and now the charging light is lit up so i just left it charging, when it charged completely then will see if everything is fine with it, and its showing that behaviour of sudden shuttdown again or not. while i have to reinstall windows too, becuase it looks so screwed up after it came back from repair.

Re: Laptop screen dead pixels, accidental or manufacturer warranty?

Well now I can't believe it, I fully charged the laptop, unplugged it, then switched it on and used for a while, but as I plugged in charger to the laptop, it turned off immediately. Repeated it for a few times, and this is what I found, if charger is already plugged into laptop and I switch it on, then later on I can plug it out and in and nothing will happen, but if I switch on the laptop without the charger plugged in, then I can’t plug in the charger to it, if I do, then laptop will switch off immediately. And those dark spots I was seeing on the screen (i talked about it in my last post) are actually due to dust inside the screen, which is not cleanable, unless screen is opened and cleaned, which also tells that this screen was repaired earlier from some other laptop and used to my laptop. I could live with this dust in the screen but this shuting off issue is something making it unusable. So this laptop is going back to BestBuy again. But I don’t know what to say, what to do, what I am going to say. I am sick of this service, I needed the laptop for my work and for so many things, and BestBuy ruined everything. I will now take some strict action if they didn’t give me a replacement tomorrow.

Re: Laptop screen dead pixels, accidental or manufacturer warranty?

It sounds like your computer is still on its first qualified repair, so it wouldn't qualify to be replaced yet. All of your repairs from your post, are redos so they all count as one and it requires 3 with a need for a 4th to replace the computer. They will definitely get it sent out to get your issues fixed up for you again and since it is a redo, will expedite the repair.
