I hate communicating like this, but here goes. Around a year ago, I bought a laptop and the three year replacement plan, which, as I understood it, should replace the computer should any damage render it unusable. At the time of the purchase, I believed we would be moving soon, and packed the receipt and a good portion of the computer's documentation away. I have not moved yet, and now water has spilled on the laptop. My question is, will Best Buy be able to look up the laptop's serial number, or perhaps even use some of the software I have found to verify that I did indeed buy the replacement plan? I have the Microsoft Office, Trend Micro, Webroot, Drivers and Utilities, Vista, and the Reinstalling Dell Media Direct discs. Am I going to have to search through all of my boxes to try to find that receipt? Thanks in advance.

Hi there and welcome to the Community!
We can look up the Geek Squad Black Tie Protection in store by your name, phone number or purchasing credit card number (assuming you still have the card).

Hi brentalex99,
I can completely relate to losing receipts since I have lost a number of them in my life, but luckily we should be able to find your receipt and more importantly your Performance Service Plan (PSP) number.
The PSP, you purchased along with your laptop to provide coverage beyond the manufacturer’s warranty, is intended to repair your laptop not replace it; in fact we have never sold replacement plans for laptops. It sounds like you purchased a PSP with Accidental Damage from Handling (ADH) coverage, and if this is the case the damage from water being spilled on it should be covered.
I am sending you a private message in order to gather some personal information that will help me in trying to find your receipt and your PSP brochure number. To check your messages you should make sure you are logged into the forum, and then click on the letter icon in the upper right-hand corner of the page.
Thanks for posting,
