Manufacturer Warranties and Protection Plans

I bought my laptop and one year of "notebook ADH only PSP" (what my receipt calls it) almost one year ago (it will be a year in two days). I have had to take it in twice to be repaired, and the insurance covered it. After my bad luck with laptops and needing mine fixed twice, I know that I need to update this insurance so I can make it through this next year of college with no worries about my computer.

But my question is: Is this even possible though, to update my insurance? I've asked at Best Buy and the guy told me that I have to do it online, but I can't find it anywhere! Please Help!!

You should be able to contact 1-888-Best-Buy to renew/extend your warranty.

Just a heads up, as far as I know, the "extension" plans will not cover accidental, I may be mistaken though.

Lol, that'd kinda be pointless if an ADH only extension plan didn't cover accidental.

Agreed, I dont deal much with service plan extensions so I do not know for certain if ADH is available through a renewal. Can one of the Geek Squad Community Connectors shed some light on this?

It might be available on the 1 year, but I'm pretty sure that you can't extend the ADH on the 2/3 year plans.... it's just not economically feasible for BBY to be covering 4-5 year old laptops against damage.

Thank you for your help guys. I called that number and the lady that helped me told me that I cannot extend the ADH plan. It kind of sucks, but what am I going to do.

Thanks for following up, Abileen.

As you found, the one-year ADH-only plans are NOT renewable.  We can only renew plans that include standard coverage as well, which would be the 2+ year plans.

You might want to check with the manufacturer to see if they have any additional options available?
