I purchased a PRP for my ipod nano about 3 years ago. Over a year ago I used the warrant when my Ipod was having problems and the best buy staff let me pay the difference to get an ipod touch. I was also able to purchase another warranty for the ipod touch. I've been having a few problems recently with the battery barely holding a charge and a problem with it playing music while running. It will speed up songs until they sound like chipmunks and then crash. Is the warranty the same as before? After reading some of the posts here it looks like they will have to send it off rather than swap it out with another like they have before. Basically, will they have to send off my ipod or will they replace it? I don't really have the time to send it off right now so I need to know if I should just take it there now for them to replace or send it off when I return from vacation.

Hello rc512,
Best Buy® last offered Product Replacement Plans (PRPs) on 09/13/2008, so if you purchased your iPod Touch anytime after that date it’s most likely covered by Geek Squad® Black Tie Protection (GSBTP) instead. Unlike PRPs, GSBTP does require that products be repaired first and foremost, so your iPod would need to be sent out for service. Alternatively, you have the option of requesting a refurbished model through our Rapid Exchange program. This process can take a few business days, but generally takes much less time than waiting for a product to be returned from service.
