Ipod Touch and GSBTP

Well, I am in a bit of a conundrum..I started my first job a few months back at a large manufacturing warehouse and after a few paychecks I saved and bought an Ipod touch, well, I of course bought the protection plan for it to be on the safe side. A few days ago I was walking around the warehouse to my shift area and when I got there I took the ipod out to turn it off and when I got there I thought the screen looked messed up..I didn't pay much attention to it since I was supposed to start my shift. Later that day I got out to my truck and saw it looked worse than ever. The next day I showed it to my boss since he said he was a tech junkie. He asked me if I was around any magnets, I told him "I'm not that attracted to magnets" (Yes, we always get a kick from puns), and he asked where I worked the night before and I told him I was in the shipping area, he told me I was screwed. He said there are very large magnets on a line next to that area and I was S.O.L. on the protection plan because he didn't think it was covered. So, I suppose I am just here to reassure that there isn't anything I can do about this since I am leaving for the Marine Corp in less than two months and need some kind of music to listen to while training before I leave and this was my first item I bought with my hard earned money and it has sentimental value, I would like to know it was a waste of money :smileysad: Thank you for reading/replying.

Re: Ipod Touch and GSBTP

Your boss may be a tech junkie, but luckily his advice was off. There is nothing inside a touch that a magnetic field can affect. The screen is LCD, which isn't affected, and the internal memory is flash, which is also not affected.

I would take it into your local BB. They should be able to either send it off for repair, which takes 2-4 weeks, or send it through Rapid Exchange, which replaces it with a refurb in 7-10 business days.

Re: Ipod Touch and GSBTP

A million thanks, I was hoping for a spark of hope and you gave me it. Because of the squeeze on time, how do I go about getting it into the Rapid Exchange? Is it something I call them about?
