Manufacturer Warranties and Protection Plans

I had purchased a Dell Studio 1555 on 26 Sep 09 from your store on North rock Road, Wichita Kansas. However, the date of sale on Dell database shows 09 Jun 09. Thus I become ineligible for free Win 7 upgrade. Can you please help? My service tag {removed per forum guidelines}  Also,BestBuy salesperson said that the 1 year Manufacturers warranty would apply in India too, Dell says it does not. Please advise. I can send the scan of the invoice if required.

I can understand how frustrating it must be to purchase a new computer and find out it is not eligible for the Windows 7 upgrade promotion, even though you meet the timeframe.  I know I just purchased a new Asus laptop in October 2008, and if I would have known that this offer was coming, I would have waited. 

What most likely happened is that even though you purchased it on September 26^th and should have received the upgrade, Dell considers the purchase date of the computer from when Best Buy purchased it from Dell.  So, the issue now becomes that Dell has the June 9^th purchase date in their system (most likely that is when Best Buy bought it from Dell).  Therefore, according to Dell, you would not qualify for the Windows 7 Upgrade. 

I want to assist you, so that you can receive the Windows 7 upgrade which you are eligible for.  To that end, although I cannot guarantee an outcome at this time, I would like to work with Dell to see if there is a more acceptable resolution available.

back to you after a long time. I still have not received the upgrade!

However, I am coming to the US again in August, so two questions: If I bring the laptop with me, will Bestbuy upgrade it for me? Either free or at some discount? Secondly, I transferred my registration to India, so my new registration is {removed per forum guidelines}. Is the one-year manufacturers warranty still applicable in the US? again, will it be applicable from June or September 26?
