No. The HDD must be sent in with the unit. GS can back up the info beforehand if you'd like for $50.
Wrong. You can keep your HDD but they have to make sure and take out the one thats in the new Xbox box. You may want to make sure its the old PRP and not the new Geek Squad plan. In the old PRP plan you could take everything in and exchange it for a new one, under the new Geek Squad one they just take your Xbox unit and ship it in. You wouldnt need to bring in any accessories.

No, not wrong. All components have serial #s. They all must match, or the store eats the cost.
So how many Xboxs have you had to return under the GS plan?? Me, i have taken back three of them and not once did i have to take back the hard drive. The first time i tried to take everything back they even said they only need the actual Xbox unit.

Ross,
Great question! While it is not located in our policy, you should be able to keep your original hard drive as long as you are exchanging for another Xbox 360 with a hard drive. The store should simply send the new hard drive back with the returned unit. Since we have not sold a PRP on an Xbox 360 in over a year, the PRP would be considered fulfilled. Therefore, the concern over the store taking a hit is not correct. Since this is not policy, I cannot guarantee it. But, I have yet to see a store refuse to yet.
On Rapid Exchanges under our new Geek Squad® Black Tie Protection, you are just exchanging the system and not any accessories. Except in rare circumstances where the new unit uses a different power supply. But, your hard drive is yours to keep.
Hope this helps!

Nokia,
We have discussed this and our message is actually quite similar. In any case, it is recommended to talk to the store because policy doesn't specifically call out the hard drive at all. So, my post was mostly about recent trends of stores allowing the customer to keep their hard drive.
