How many dead pixels are needed for a replacement?

I have a 21.5 inch iMac, and i purchased the Geek Squad Black Tie Protection for it, and I had 3 dead pixels and best buy said it was not eligible to be fixed, and now i have found 6 dead pixels, so im wandering how many dead pixels do you need for them to fix or replace it?

Re: How many dead pixels are needed for a replacement?

Hi iKaleb,

Excellent question!  Our service centers follow the same guidelines established by individual manufacturers when it comes to repairing LCD panels.  Customers with Black Tie Protection can also obtain screen repairs if there are three (3) defective pixels located in a group less than one half (1/2) square inch or five (5) defective pixels throughout the entire display area.*  For more information though I’d encourage you to refer to your plan documentation or the sample brochure available on the following site:

If you have any concerns about your iMac’s display, I’d encourage you to bring it to the repair counter at your local Best Buy store.  Once there, I’d invite you to send me a private message with the service order number provided by the store and I’d be glad to monitor any necessary repairs on your behalf.

Let me know if you have any additional questions!
