Re: Help? BestBuy 4 yr Warrenty tv swapped

Well you don't "have to" buy another warranty. Only if you want an extended warranty on the replacement TV would you have to buy a new one.

By replacing the defective TV, the extended warranty they originally sold you is "used up" and cancelled, there isn't anything to transfer over.

The problem with the replacement warranty though is they will replace it with a TV they have in stock that comes as close as possible to the TV you originally purchased. They don't have any with the same specs anymore. The Model you located is a MarketPlace Item sold by Buy.com; a different company. The only TVs that have the basic specs are all MarketPlace items (different brands came up other than Toshiba).

I believe they would give you a value credit for the TV they gave you, which you could then add money to and buy a more expensive model/upgrade from what you had if you are not satidfied with what they have in stock (which you obviously are not happy with).

That's all the information I have on this, hopefully a Community Connector will be along in a few days with a better answer than the information I provided.

Due to changes in technology, your TV is probably not worth $749.99 anymore. So you'd get the cost of a comparable model on a store credit, not your original purchase price.

Yes. If they have a comparable product to yours, you'd get the value of that one. If they don't have anything comparable to your old TV, you'd get your full original purchase price back.

Re: Help? BestBuy 4 yr Warrenty tv swapped

Hi BowtechRedneck,

Thanks for reaching out to us on this, and hopefully I can add some clarification as to how this store should be processing the replacement of your TV.

The store should be replacing your TV with the most comparable model we currently carry that doesn’t exceed your original purchase price. Per the terms of your service plan technological advances that happen over time can result in a replacement TV that costs less than what you paid.

The store should be trying to match as many features of the TV being replaced as possible, but matching every feature would be next to impossible given the inevitable differences that happen from model to model.

If you are not satisfied with the comparable model the store that processes your replacement should be able to issue you store credit in the amount that the comparable TV is currently selling for, and you could then use that credit towards the purchase of any TV you want.

I do show that your service plan approved your TV for replacement. Per the terms of your service plan once it replaces your TV it is considered fulfilled. This does mean if you want coverage beyond the manufacturer’s warranty on your replacement TV it would be at cost to you, but the store should not be requiring you to purchase extended coverage on your new TV.

I hope this adds clarification to this process, but if you do need additional information just post back to this thread.

Thanks for posting,
