Had to replace my phone 4 times (3 right in a row), and my microSD card with all my photos was lost.

I got an HTC Evo 4G in December of 2010 with the PSP, and it worked fine until December of 2011, when I got it replaced. The digitizer started screwing up in early April, and in late April I got it replaced. I went in and waited in line at the mobile desk for over an hour, enough time to witness 2 people come in for something else, be talked into buying phones, and leaving with new service plans, then I waited at the Geek Squad desk for about the same amount of time for the new hire to process my plan because Best Buy mobile was "too busy." He didn't know what he was doing, and we had to wait until after the store closed for his manager to come by and confirm everything. I then walked over to the mobile desk, and got the loaner phone.

But, they couldn't take cash, and I had to go over to Geeksquad and pay for the loaner phone, then go back and get it. I left the store.

I soon realized the mobile phone didn't have a data connection, and I had to bring it back in and have it activated. After that, it was fine. I got a call a few days later saying my phone was in.

I then went back to the store, waited for another excruciating hour or so as I got the phone from Geek Squad and then about a half hour getting the loaner phone returned. As soon as I left the store, I noticed some hairs and whatnot under the screen. No big deal, but I know it would have annoyed me, so I walked back in and had a replacement ordered again. There goes another hour.

After a while, I wondered where my phone was, and called back to Best Buy. It had been there for two days, and been calling the wrong number. I drove up there, got the phone after a small wait, and it seemed to work fine. Except, when I opened up the little baggie that had been packed by a store employee which I had no reason to touch, since the loaner phone didn't come with a microSD card, the microSD card was missing. There goes the Disney World trip, there goes the Grand Canyon, there goes Las Vegas, there goes my Aruba photos, and two birthdays. They were very helpful when checking for it, but it couldn't be found. I waited for approximately an hour for that to happen, then a half hour again while they continued to look, and I activated my new phone with Sprint. By myself. It was to save time while I waited for them to find my microSD card.

I left with it working, and realized nobody had given me my deposit money back. I drove back to the store, walked in, and got it. The employee had been quite distracted by the problems with the loaner phone, which couldn't be wiped due to some kind of error involving a customer modifying it. I commented on that when it was first given to me, but it seemed to work just fine, so I had zero issue with it. I don't think the employees noticed, because they were so busy. I do hope it's been wiped by now, considering my personal data was on the device.

Regardless, I got my phone home today, and realized I couldn't press the "P" on the keyboard. Through a bit more experimenting, I realized the entire right half of the phone showed a dysfunctional digitizer. Again. I'm returning it tomorrow.

So, by this point, I have wasted $15 in gas, about 10 hours of my life, and lost my pictures for the past year and a half. And, that doesn't even count the time spent fooling around with the new phones getting my contacts and apps back and working, or the $10 a month I've been paying since I purchased the phone.

And tomorrow, I'll have wasted another $5, at least 2 hours, and I still won't have my photographs or contacts back.

What about your backups?  Can you retrieve the images and contacts from your backup?

No, actually. I had a hard drive failure a few months back, and I haven't backed them up since, which, I admit, was not very smart of me.

I do have what I uploaded to Facebook, but my ratio of pictures uploaded to pictures taken is quite low, and the quality is diminished as well. Most of the videos, due to size, I've never bothered uploading anywhere either.

And I've always had issues with Google's Contacts. It usually saves about half of them. Never figured out why, but that's certainly not Best Buy's fault.

[ Edited ]

fletchert,

The root of the problem here is the store should have made sure you kept your MicroSD card as it is included in our officialprocess. They should have never allowed the card to "change hands"... I will personally make sure this feedback is expresseddirectly with the store's senior management.

I've also sent you a private message about this. To read it, please make sure you are logged in and then click the envelopeicon in the upper right of this page.

I also want to sincerely apologize for this experience overall. Not just with the missing card, but also that you have to have itreplacement multiple times. There is definitely a learning experience for the store and service center, which I am eager to getaddressed.

Best regards,
