Hello
I purchased an HTC unlocked phone last September from Best Buy.
Recently, some features have stopped working properly, and I would like to send it back to HTC for repairs.
HTC has asked for a copy of the receipt with the IMEI number on it to make sure the phone is still under warranty. Without the IMEI number on the receipt, I would have to pay for the cost of repairs. However, my receipt doesn't have the the IMEI number.
What can I do? I even went back to the store to get another receipt printed, but it still doesn't show the IMEI number.
Thank you very much for your assistance.

kenno,
It's true, we don't scan or track the IMEI on unlocked phone purchases. The device is sold as a normal product in this case.
Please let me know if I can help you with something else. Thank you.

So the original question wasnt really answered, HTC requires IMEI for warranty. So basically there sold with no factory warranty if you dont sign a contract?
I am in the middle of the same issue with HTC right now. Original receipt doesnt show IMEI, HTC wont honor 1 year warranty.
