HELP - I AM SOOOOOO FRUSTRATED WITH MY BLU RAY PURCHASE

I buy almost all of my electronics from Best Buy - up to this point, I loved Best Buy and was so happy with all my past purchases (laptops, cameras, kitchen appliances . . . ) but if I don't resolve this long-standing issue, I will never go there again!

 

My husband and I bought a large screen TV along with a Blu Ray player last year at Christmas.  We absolutely hate the Samsung Blu Ray player.  It has never worked correctly from day one.  We were so busy with Christmas that we didn't use it much in that first month or so.  We played our regular DVDs on it without any major problems but every so often, the screen would just go to blue in the middle of the movie.  The problems started when we tried to play Blu Ray movies.  It would play one but not another - maybe every other one, it would just spit out the movie.  When I called Best Buy, they told me I would have to contact Samsung to get it repaired.  Every since then, I have had nightmare after nightmare with Samsung.  They claimed we needed a firmware update - I tried two off the internet and neither one made any difference.  I requested one from Samsung and after a month of waiting, I called and they said they lost the order and would start over again.  After another month of waiting, they said they don't know what happened but would send another one if I gave them the serial number and start from square one again.  I finally got one in the mail and it was all scratched up and didn't work in the player.   I requested another and had to wait another month - I got it this week - put it in the player and then tried one of our original Blu Ray movies that used to work and the screen on the TV said "cannot play disc"!     

 

I am so extremely frustrated with Samsung and Best Buy - we bought this piece of junk and it has been no good to us since last Christmas.  We just want any Blu Ray player that works - obviously we got a dud.  I already contacted Consumer Affairs and Better Business Bureau about Samsung.  I am going to give Best Buy a chance to replace the DVD player before I register any complaints about them. 

 

PLEASE HELP !!  I am so sick of this problem that I've been dealing with for the last year!

Hi Guys:

 

I understand how you feel. First it sounds like you have a defective player. I bought a high end Sony Blue Ray player over a year ago and had problems with it . I will tell you about mine.  It would play all regular dvds but Blue Ray was a problem more time then not. My Sony would just stop somewhere during the movie and lock up the player. The difference between yours and mine was that the picture would freeze in mine like I pressed pause. I contacted Sony about this and they sent me the next verision of frimware. Well it was about 4 or 5 updated versions before I had no more problems. They told me that because the BlueRay was a new product they had trouble with the Firmware. They told me the companies that where making the BlueRay movies were not all using the same Firmware so that not all movies would work.  Sony told me they had touble keeping up with them. Anyway mine works fine know if that any help. I hope the new players are OK.

I agree you should not shop at Best Buy anymore, eventually everyone gets screwed at that store, I know I did.  Since Best Buy is going to be pretty much useless to you on helping with your defective item, call Samsung directly explain the situation and ask them if they will replace your unit with a unit similar to yours that has already been repaired and ask for advanced replacement.  Good Luck, I hope you find a nice local company that will take care of your needs and you don't have to go through the Best Buy corporate nightmare.

My guess will actually be best buy will work with you better than samsung will. Dealing with a company over the phone or through email will probably be a nightmare. I have never had any trouble dealing with BB on returns as long as it was within the 30 day policy. If its been longer than that and you don't have an extended service plan you will most likely have to go through samsung though.

I do realize this is a Best Buy website, can you think of a better place to preach about Best Buy and Wally World working to destroy the local stores that have been the backbone of the American economy for the past few hundred years.  Do you think its a coincidence that the rich keep getting richer in this country and the poor can barely survive.  Corporate Greed!
