Extended Warranty for Macbook

I bought a New macbook with a extended 3 years warranty, the warranty with best buy, NOT apple care

The guy at the store told me with this warranty that cost me 399$ I could protect my computer against everything

such a hits, water damage, internal issues, etc. Also he told me they going to gave me a new one, I don't know if this how it works (please tell me how this warranty works)

My question is:

How many times best buy will replace or repair my macbook ?

and what do I have to take at the store with me to do it  (the box and everything inside)?<--- obviously my recipe

How much time will take to do it ?

I know  is not one question :smileytongue: !

well thanks for reading and sorry for the spelling or my poor English :smileysad:

Re: Extended Warranty for Macbook

Hello Jc_ca,

You ask good questions!  Understanding how the Performance Service Plan (PSP) or Geek Squad® Black Tie Protection (GSBTP) work is very important, so I’ll do my best to explain.

If you purchased a PSP with Accidental Damage from Handling (ADH) or an Advanced GSBTP for your notebook computer, then accidental damage caused by spills, drops, and normal wear and tear is covered.  Otherwise, your PSP or GSBTP will only cover failures due to defect, internal heat, power surge, dust, humidity, etc.

PSPs and GSBTPs have a “no lemon” clause that guarantees that our customers won’t have to endure endless repairs.  Under no lemon, a computer will be replaced after it has been repaired three times and is diagnosed with the need for a fourth (as determined by us).

When you visit the store for a repair, it’s best to take the computer, your power adaptor and the computer restore disks to for installing your operating system in case the hard drive needs to be replaced.  Remember to regularly back up all of your data files!

Most repairs take 2-3 weeks to complete, including shipping to and from a Best Buy® service center.  Repairs can take longer if parts are not readily available to complete the repair.

For the best information, I recommend that you read the terms and conditions that you were provided when you purchased your PSP or GSBTP.  The GSBTP terms can be found here

If you’d like me to verify your coverage, please feel free to send me a private message with your PSP or GSBTP brochure number and I’ll look into it for you.  You can send me a message by signing in with your user name and password, clicking on my user name and then on “Send this user a private message” under Contact on the right.  I’ll be happy to help in any way I can.

Thank you for writing!

Re: Extended Warranty for Macbook

If you take in the power adapter, installation disks or any other peripherals make sure that they document that in your service order. My laptop power adapter was once lost while it was shipped out for repair. Best Buy did make it right and replace it because it was documented in the service order.
