On March 16, 2012, I dropped off my Macbook with the charger because it would not turn on. They told me that they couldn’t work on it at the store and that they would have to send it off. I was ok with that. Then I got a call saying that laptop was ready for pick up. I go to the store and they bring out the laptop. First of all there were pen marks on the outside and inside of the laptop. I asked if the charger was working because it had burn marks on the plugs. The agent tested it out and it wasn’t working. So I received a laptop with no working charger. He told me that he would have to send everything back to get a working charger. Really, that’s the dumbest thing I’ve heard!! I declined because I needed the laptop for school. As I was inspecting the laptop I noticed that iLife was not installed. He told me to install the cds it came with. When I got home and tried to install the cds, the drive didn’t work. Plus, it had a large gap underneath the dvd/cd drive, which wasn’t there before. I went back to Geek Squad and of course they had to send it off again. Again, without a laptop for school. Very frustrating since I’m taking online courses. I get called today that my laptop is ready for pick up. They bring me my laptop with another charger. I asked if the dvd/cd drive was repaired and the answer was NO. Off it went again and no computer for school. My grades are suffering because of this. If it was only fixed properly the first time. I need a computer!! Is there any way that I can get credit for my laptop, so I can by a new one. I’ll pay the difference, I just need a computer.

Sounds like an ideal situation to be disappointed in, ugh.
Unfortunately I don't have much information or help to give you on the situation, as any resolution (specifically the replacement you are asking for), would be outside the norm, and at the stores discretion.
Beyond that, if you haven't had a chance to look at any other posts, the norm is that a community connector should be along in 3-5 business days to help you work towards a resolution.
Good luck!

Does your school have a computer lab? I know it's not as convenient as having your own laptop to work with, but if there is a computer lab available, then it really isn't an excuse to let your grades drop. Most universities that require work done on a computer will either a) give you your own computer (which is usually maintained by the IT dept.) or b) have a computer lab with anything you need available.
Issues come up in life that make things more difficult than they need to be. You can either do nothing and suffer or man up and deal with the inconvenience.
Good luck with the repair... but, don't fool around and let your grades drop if there is a way you can avoid it...

Hello ijuarbe,
Welcome to the forums.
I’m disappointed to hear that this repair has gone on for such a long time; you've been incredibly patient, thank you. We want to get your computer repaired correctly the first time, because we know it’s hard enough to be without a computer for the first 2-3 weeks!
It looks like your computer was returned to your local Best Buy today and is ready for pick up. You should have received a call earlier this afternoon to confirm. I have sent you a private message with a little more information, so please log into the forums and check your private messages by clicking the envelope icon in the upper right corner of the page when you get a chance.
Cheers,
