When I worked for Circuit City, this was exactly one of their tactics and BB seems no different.
They love to take your money for their stupid warranties that start the date of purchase then tell you call the manufacturer.
You find articles all over the internet about warranties being nothing but a profit machine for companies.
As long as your tv was not physically, BB is 100% obligated to fix it. If I was you, I would let them fix it then cancel your warranty. If they end up replacing the tv then the warranty is over.

As far as I know, Best Buy sends the item out for repairs but within the first year they defer to the manuf. for payment of repairs which is why the repair must be approved by the manf. If an event happens that is not covered by the manf. but IS covered by the service plan (such as a power surge) the Best Buy Insurance company takes over and pays for the repair. Neither warranty covers physical damage which is why you are being referred to the manf.

do u know if with it having a crack that well originally it would turn on and have sound, now wont turn on?
tech came out today and actually agreed with it not being physical damage. and that the tv had obvious defects. sooooooo crystalwow the samsung/best buy tech, u deem physical damage because.... why? its common. Im sure it is. Truth is, the tv is garbage (big suprise) and the extended warranty which the sales rep... although they get paid hourly... do push for it cause they recieve commision. simply they should not give false info when trying to get a hundred bucks. Versus all you employees assuming, should keep your mouths shut until you know 100% sure.

I know best buy is not on commission.... But are you telling me that when they sell an extended warranty they dont make money? Cause I will bet money they do. And to be honest I am not angry with the tv they sold me, I know that they dont make it. I am upset with them, cause they dont honor their warranty in which they sell you. They sluff it on to the manufacture. Which is fine... but dont sell me a 4 year warranty and really only commit to 3 years and lie upfront. If the the sales rep was honest to begin with, this wouldnt be an issue.
Also another problem with their 1888bestbuy number is that if you call from a canadian cell phone... you get the US... which cannot help you either.

what do u mean it doesnt support canadian customers?
and sorry that is the number i called. i get americans! 1866WELIE... I mean best buy.
well maybe in america they dont get commission off of seeling extended warrantys... but here they do. my sister worked in the camera department. perhaps the states should stop being so cheap and start paying their employees.
ANDDDD in my experience... with my 3 SEPERATE issues.... best buy did NOT warranty the product within the first year. And funny thing... is that while I was calling... I spoke with the US everytime. And without looking up my info... they still told me the same thing. Within the first year, deal with the manufacture.
