Re: Confusion about black tie coverage

If you have an issue, it would be more prudent to create a new thread rather than to resurrect old threads that have died off months ago. Zombie thread invasions are not fun.

Re: Confusion about black tie coverage

i did. and i disagree with your logic.  when doing a google search, this topic came up first in results.  It would be fair to assume more people use google to find solutions, than those that come to the forums here and use the search function.

what better place to post, than on the number one google result for the topic?

what better way to ressurect a topic, than to put fresh content on a page that is already at the top of google?

This is because when they posted this thread (about a year and a half ago), the phones were repaired rather than replaced under the Rapid Exchange system.

Re: Confusion about black tie coverage

I had been lied to by BB salesperson to purchase protetion Plan. I canceled mine with Best Buy and was lucky enough to be able to get my regular phone insurance because it does cover Lost/'Stolen/'Crushed and I now feel that I am fully protected, It is cheaper per Mo get replacement phone in 48 Hrs, I have no problem paying a deductible for that kind of service. Good luck choosing the choice that is right for you!

Re: Confusion about black tie coverage

Then BestBuy needs to properly train their associates about selling the BlackTie service.... I too have been a victim of unethical sales practices of this service.  I was informed "you bring the damaged or defective item in, if we can't repair it in the store, we'll give you a brand new of equal or better value on the spot"

When I actually had a repair issue however, then the story changed to "well, we'll have to send it out for repair, it'll take a couple week".... If I wanted that kind of service, I could have just stuck with the manufacturer's warranty.... The whole major selling point of the Black Tie service was that I wouldn't have to deal with the hassle of the unit being sent out for repair, and being without my electronics for weeks on end, that I would get a same day replacement if the problem couldn't be resolved in-house.

Never again will I be suckered into buying the Black Tie service.

BestBuy's associates (At Store #569) were completely unethical in how they marketed and sold this service.

Wow, talk about raising a thread from the dead. Maybe the Mayans were predicting a Zombie thread apocalypse today and this is the fulfillment of that prediction.

Re: Confusion about black tie coverage

Yeah i was told the same thing actually. The bad thing is i have been telling many people that GSBTP is good and it covers anything "like jumping in a pool with your phone in your pocket". You could say that im not that happy right now to learn all this. This is why i paid outright for my phone, because i thought i was safe with the protection plan. I will surley not be buying another phone from best buy after the sales person lied. Think training should be required.

Re: Confusion about black tie coverage

Training is required. However, it's impossible for a corporation to stand there and listen to what every employee says to every customer, hence the terms and conditions.

If you like my post, or solution to your issue/question, go ahead and click on the little star by my name and/or accept the post as the Solution. It makes me happy.

I'm NOT an employee of Best Buy, or Geek Squad, though I did work as an Agent for a year. None of my posts are to be taken as the official stance that Best Buy will take on your situation. My advice is just that, advice.
Unfortunately, that's the bad luck of any electronic, there's going to be bad Apples... wait that's a horrible pun.
